RNC wades into New York special election [backs RINO with massive funds]
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2009-10-16 | Reid Wilson

Posted on 10/16/2009 10:50:33 AM PDT by rabscuttle385

The Republican National Committee is making its first large financial commitment to the party's candidate in a New York special election, fighting back criticism that the party has allowed Democrats to jump to an early lead.

The RNC will give $85,000 to the coordinated campaign efforts, the maximum allowed by federal law. And the RNC will give the New York state Republican Party what a source described as a six-figure transfer in order to run more advertising on behalf of Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava (R).

Meanwhile, the RNC has sent two paid staffers to help Scozzafava's campaign, and it has committed to fully funding the party's victory program, aimed at increasing turnout in the Nov. 3 special election.

Why do you spend 100% of your time here propagandizing for the Democrat Party?

Jesus Johnnie, he just told you in Post #64.

If you don't like the choice, go out and run a real conservative in the primaries and win.

So the RNC establishment can still back the RINO, even though they should butt out of the primaries and let the base decide?

Otherwise, shut up or go form a third party.

So you can blame them for the RINO defeat in the general? You don't want our votes in the primaries, but we sure as Hell better vote for the RINO in the general.

Whining is for losers and more and more the nutcases on FR are all about whining and losing at the same time.

Our nation is being destroyed by Marxists in the Democrat Party and by their enablers in the GOP. Should we just STFU and enjoy our tea and crumpets?

No money to RNC. Grassroots money to individual conservative candidates.

...she's been backed in the past by the Acorn-supported Working Families Party.

The NY Conservative party says Dede was 15% conservative last year (several rats in the leg did better).

Your full post is mostly correct including the description that she was selected by a bunch of ignorant local party bosses. To be completely accurate though, one should point out several things from your above excerpted remarks. Dede has been backed in past elections by both the WF Party and the Conservative Party(simultaneously) which leads to the question, if Dede is radio active because she has received the WFP line endorsement, then why too isn't the Conservative Party also radioactive because they supported a WFP line candidate in the past?

Also, Dede's past conservative ratings (except for last year were around 50%) which again makes the Conservative Party suspect for endorsing such a middle-of-the-road candidate in the past.

Anyway as I pointed out on another Dede thread, third party runs don't usually work, it probably won't work in this case and I'm normally against them.

That said, this case is different. Three things;

Hoffman did try to seek the Republican nomination.

It wasn't the rank and file Republican voters who voted against Hoffman it was instead a small number of county party chairman who made the selection.

Dede's voting record has dropped below the 50% line which means of course that she votes statist more than she votes constitutionalist.

The usual suspects will stupidly and short-sightedly claim that re-electing McCain next year is better than electing a liberal Democrat. McCain MUST be defeated at all costs. ALL COSTS.

Stupid post. If I was in Arizona I would work to defeat McCain in the primary but if McCain won that primary, I would support him over the typical marxist Democrat.

Yet they STILL managed to expand socialism and deepen the debt. Now, excuse that away, RINO apologist.

Don’t be surprised then when McCain/Graham and other RINOs stab you when you least expect it.

It’s true the Conservative party often backs RINOs and even “pro-life” democrats in some areas where democrats have influence with the local party (Staten Island for one). Seems to me it’s poorly run from top to bottom. Some NY area freeper (I forget who) called them a patronage outfit for the Long family.

Officially the chairman is against endorsing anyone endorsed by Working Families.

That would be me. The Conservative Party has not been the same since the Buckleys washed their hands of it.

I'm fully aware of McCain's Stockholm syndrome type behavior and Goober's false guilt and over compensation related his ties to Strom Thurmond.

Well, I agree with you, FreeReign. That's what the places where Rabs and I part ways. Rabs sees no difference between a Republican who betrays us on two or three important issues but is usually reliable vote for the GOP, and a Republican who betrays us on dozens of major issues and votes with the Dems more often than us. Rabs himself said the degree of treason makes no difference to him, he thinks anyone who votes the wrong way on an important issue must be purged from Government.

Of course I disagree. Someone like McCain should be opposed in the primary because they stabbed us in the back, but when the general election rolls around, McCain is clearly better than a full fledged marxist RAT. McCain is still more conservative than any AZ RAT. The same is not true of someone like Scozzafava. Not only does she need to be stopped in the primary, but she is unacceptable in the general election as well. Scozzafava is so liberal she's to left of many Dems in NY, and is even running to the left of the Dem nominee for this Congressional race (again, not to say he's conservative -- they're both liberals, but DailyKos likes her better) Someone like Scozzafava needs to be opposed in the general election too, because the only thing electing them will accomplish is helping Obama and Pelosi further their agenda most of the time.

Now the fact Rabs is wrong about McCain doesn't change the fact he's 100% CORRECT about socialist RINOs who side with the Dems most of the time. These kinds of "Republicans" MUST be opposed any time they seek office, regardless of whether they're running in a "blue state" or "blue district". I applaud Rabs for speaking out against liberal activists like Scozzafava.

Except that McCain is not your garden-variety RINO; McCain is a super-RINO who does not just passively oppose conservatives (by voting against them) but actively opposes them on a number of issues (immigration and cap-and-trade are by far the worst) by taking "nation-killer" positions and bringing legislation forward that furthers leftist goals. Furthermore, McCain is actively engaged in recruiting and training more RINOs to become like him (note that Graham's foray into cap-and-tax was inspired by McCain) by endorsing and supporting them (e.g., Crist, Specter before he defected, Kirk, Whitman).

In the short term, yes, McCain is certainly preferable to practically every Democrat out there. However, in the long term, McCain does immense and potentially irreparable damage to the conservative cause by attacking what is supposed to be its primary political vehicle--the Republican Party--from within. And, in that sense, McCain, in the long term, is far worse than any Democrat.

I’ll tell you who is still giving the RINO party money: my 89 year old mother who gets phone calls constantly and mailings every other day. They tell her that she needs to send them money or the evil Dems will ruin the country. So, she sends them money. I have told her repeatedly not to give them a dime, but they wear her down - it’s Elder Abuse.

Speaking of Mark Kirk-IL, I'm not voting for him, no how, no way...who is the conservative running against him? What about the guy named Pat Ryan (can't remember his name now..Pat is definitely his first name.) I hear he is conservative and can bring in the money.

McCain is what I call the 'Andropov' of RINOs.

We have a similar problem here in CA. The state GOP is extremely weak. They ceded this state to the rats 20+ years ago. Everyone knows what shape this state is in now. It’s a crying shame.

We are trying to leave this once magnificent state.
