To The States: Should We Talk About Secession?
Market-Ticker ^ | 11 October 2009 | Karl Denninger

I'm going to go back to this quote by Barney Frank of the US House, because it says everything those in state and local governments need to know:

Barney Frank, the Massachusetts Democrat who is chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, said in an interview that the defaults were, in essence, worth it.

“I don’t think it’s a bad thing that the bad loans occurred,” he said. “It was an effort to keep prices from falling too fast. That’s a policy.”

Got it? It's a policy to screw the state and local governments.

Huh, you say? It's simple, really: State and local governments rely on property tax revenues. Yet defaulted mortgages don't pay property taxes. Yes, there's a lien on the property but this doesn't help the municipal budget now.

And suffer they are:

Tax revenues used to pay teachers and fuel police cars continue to trail even the most pessimistic expectations, despite the cash from the economic stimulus plan pouring into state coffers.

"It's crazy. It's really just unbelievable," said Scott Pattison, executive

“Where does it forbid it?”

The Constitution is a negative document. A power not granted is forbidden.

Actually it's the other way around.

With the impending R2/CW2, secession is a moot point.

So, the 10th doesn’t exist at all now? Your position is exactly why we are where we are now.

“The left” is not a collection of people you can put in a room or a conference hall or even a stadium. As we knock down the marxists in government offices they are simply replaced by the people who are the real problem. All the millions of moronic “leftists” who vote for marxists are still going to be there and voting for another marxist to fill the void. We CANNOT take all those folks out without some serious world class biblical type Armageddon.

Yeah.. not gonna happen...

Our ONLY alternative is to insulate ourselves from the absolute stupidity of their vacant stares and zombie like voting habits.

Texas is leaning left because of the constant dribble coming from the north from Mexico.

Enough of this crap! The goal is supposed to be to protect, preserve and restore the Constitution, not repeat what the POS democrat party did in 1861. Forget the bravado. None of the states separate or in a small group will survive very long. Our strength has always been in our union, not in the isolated interests of a few. Secede and you hand the democrat nazi party a win and prove you haven’t the courage to uphold the Constitution and union. I swore to uphold the Constitution and I still hold to that oath and if that means fighting against secessionists so be it. Secessionists can rot in hell with their ancestral party, the democrats.

I remember reading this in 2000 and thinking this is interesting but I don’t think we are really at this point yet. But now 9 years later I realize how Walter Williams had this completely right and it’s now time. The blue states should go it alone and find out they will end up just like NY and CA are now. Bankrupt. Ultimately that’s always the end game of the ponzi scheme the democrats sell.

Yeah, go ahead and secede again all you twits. It won’t take long for Texas to become a full Mexican state.

Unless Americans sit on these people and make them do the bidding of the people, this will happen again and again and again.

Please tell me how you intend to do that. I can't vote for or against most of the people in Washington consequently they are not at all concerned with what I want. If the folks that can vote for them want them to violate the hell out of the Constitution, they are going to try to violate it. If the folks that can vote for them want them to take my money and give it to them, they are going to try to rob me. So, please tell me, just how do we "sit" on someone else's Congressman? How do we "sit" on the Senators from the other states?

‘We CANNOT take all those folks out without some serious world class biblical type Armageddon.’

Perhaps.

However, Many of these so called ‘lefties’ that voted for Obama are mostly American Idol worshipers or blind followers .Sheeple, if you will.

If we have a knock-down, drag out civil war/revolution in this nation, 75% of the population will sit out and migrate to the winning side at the finale.

Decapitating the leadership and eliminating the liberal illusion of the state knowing best must the first battle to be won.

JMO...

The Constitution is not respected by the Union. It hasn’t been for a long time. The Founders seceded. Do you want them to rot in hell too?

Tories can rot in hell. Some don’t like having their ancestors slandered, sonny.

So, you would fight to defend a tyrannical government?

Fight against your fellow Americans wanting their freedom from it?

And equally well defended.

On our side, at least.

You won't have to worry about the blue states they are all cowards and hate the military. The problem will be we will have to attack them after they get in bed with red China and allow them to have military bases in what was the lower 48 states.

“Sheeple” they are, and “sheeple” they WILL remain. You cannot build a strategy upon the foundation of these “sheeple” having an epiphany and somehow becoming something other than the dullards they actually are.

Sure, we can still reach the folks who just weren’t paying attention, but I think those numbers are pretty limited. Indoctrination works and the state run media has done its job. A significant portion of the population is lost and cannot be “deprogrammed” until the marxist PR infrastructure is completely dismantled.

You need to reevaluate whats really important.

The union is nothing without freedom and liberty.

The constitution was meant as a mechanism to guard against the usurpation of the freedom and liberty the founders fought for. It failed, or more accurately, those who came before us failed it.

Just be certain of something. The founders did not fight for the constitution or the union... They fought for freedom and liberty. They were secessionists and traitors to their country, but they wanted to be free and they made themselves so.

BTW... You and every single service man (including myself) has failed in their duty to protect and defend the constitution. Its a document made worthless by the apathy and indifference of the people whos duty it was to defend it. Because we failed in our duty to protect the constitution, the constitution failed to fulfill its intended purpose of safeguarding the freedom and liberty the founders fought and died for.

I agree with the above but the General staff are so overloaded with democrat appointees I fear they have as much respect for the constitution as Nancy Pelosi.

You can't really hold anything against the rank and file serviceman.
