Democrats Mount PR Offensive to Counter Obama Nobel Peace Prize Jokes

The Democratic party and their allies are mounting an afternoon public relations offensive to counter the jokes and other negative reactions to the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama for no apparent reason or accomplishment.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi:

"President Obama is working to restore American leadership worldwide and build bonds of friendship across the globe. The Nobel Peace Prize is a testament to his leadership and vision and a tribute to American values. I offer my congratulations to President Obama on this outstanding achievement.

"Diplomacy and cooperation are the cornerstones of a strong, effective foreign policy. President Obama has worked tirelessly to put these principles into practice. In an age when the actions of one nation can affect the future of all nations, the President has recognized the need for global solutions to our most pressing challenges. And he is rallying the world around the common causes of building a world free of nuclear weapons, combating climate change, defeating the forces of terror, securing human rights, and pursuing peace among all nations."

Gov. Tim Kaine, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee:

"The Nobel Committee's decision to award this year's Peace Prize to President Obama is an affirmation of the fact that the United States has returned to its longstanding role as a world leader. The President has made a conscious decision from the beginning of his presidency to reinvigorate diplomacy, by talking to our friends and our rivals. Those efforts to bring world leaders together are helping the people of the world to face monumental challenges like nuclear arms proliferation, conflict resolution and climate change.

"With this prize comes a sense of enormous pride, but also an enormous sense of humility about the work that remains if we are to resolve the global problems facing humanity. Democrats will continue to work with President Obama to keep moving America forward, as we continue in earnest to sow peace, progress and understanding around the world."

John Gage, National President of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE):

AFGE congratulates President Obama on the 2009 Nobel Peace prize, a well-earned and well-deserved honor. While the Nobel committee recognized President Obama for his work in international politics and nuclear disarmament, the committee also recognized that he brings vision and hope to the people of the world for a better future -- a message that he brought to all Americans and the federal workforce last November.

We were proud to stand by President Obama in 2008 and we are proud still to stand by him today. We share his vision of good government, reforming our broken health care system, ensuring pay equality, and fully funding our government agencies so we can better service the American public. AFGE looks forward to continuing our work with the Obama administration as we celebrate the accomplishments of our great country, our great union and our president.

The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is the largest federal employee union, representing 600,000 workers in the federal government and the government of the District of Columbia.

Sen. Patrick Leahy:

"It's a stunning announcement and it reflects well on America's ideals and the world's yearning for American leadership.

"Little is possible without leadership. No one can force other nations to follow, but President Obama is reintroducing America to the rest of the world, and people of goodwill everywhere do have hope about working together for progress on some of the world's most daunting and dangerous problems."

The four statements were all posted within minutes of each other on PR Newswire.

Maybe CNN should fact check the satire.

"a tribute to American values"

This is from a bunch of a%%HOLES whose support comes from stealing the money from THOSE WHO EARN, and handing it to those who are the Free Riders. Destruction of the dream of America, which was abiding by God's rules, working HARD to support yourself and your family, and doing no harm to others who don't harm you. The idea that the Country owes ANYONE anything, as these assclowns claim repeatedly, creates no incentive to work hard or support yourself OR your family. That's why we have Fourth Generation Entitlements FATHERLESS-families, living off the earnings of others, and electing those who promise to support them by TAKING what is the personal and private property of others.

This whole mess in Amerika is sickening beyond belief.

You are right. Bozo's award has now turned it into diarrhea.

Hussein is a Affirmative Action Marxist...who needs his grades inflated constantly.

This is a dangerous pretense, his supposed loyality to the US.

Iraq war still going, check.

Afghanistan war still going, check.

Gitmo still open, check.

Just offed some terrorists in a SEAL raid in Somalia, check.

Killed some pirates off the coast of Somalia, check.

Asking for extension of Patriot Act, check.

Defending the warrantless wiretapping, check.

From a leftist point of view, what has he accomplished for peace? What has he actually done in a more peaceful way than Bush would have? The only things that have changed so far are the words, not the actions, because Obama is still running off of Bush’s plan where actions are concerned.

Now, when nations act up, instead of saying “I won”, he can say, “I'm The Nobel Peace Laureate”.

I hope you are correct, but the core members of the Baraqqi coalition either don’t work at all, or are in jobs largely unaffected by the economy.

That's because the post directly beneath yours (#25) included a link to a story with that cartoon.

the left talking points have gone out and I bet all of them use them on Sunday too, nearly word for word.

What is it with the left, why can’t they actually think for themselves instead of being told what to think and to say all the time?

Honestly they use bumper stickers and talking points all the time.
Nancy and others get together and plan what to say for the day and what to say and the left are just too dumb to realise what fools they are.

Ask them a question like I do if I see a bozo cultist and they never have an answer. It’s all talking points or bumper stickers for answers.

what does change mean?

er
er
er
Bush is making the world hate us
yes but what does change mean

er
er
er
Bush did a war for oil

etcetcetc
these people are braindead

The core of Obozo’s supporters are not numerous enough to sustain him. There is no way this idiot was elected without the support of the productive. The more they are hurt by these policies the more they will turn against them.

indeed but if they had given it to Bush for two weeks work then most of us on here would be saying that Bush had not earned it as we do for anyone.
The left follow like they are in a cult and quite honestly it is cringworthy to watch them

I had wanted to post the recent SNL ‘Obama has done nothing’ skit, but it seems to have been purged from the net.

From [Andy McCarthy] at THE CORNER: Maybe If We Changed the Name . . . On this Nobel business, I'm gonna part company with my pal K-Lo Tevi. I'm not all for Americans winning international prizes, especially the Nobel Peace Prize. In fact, I'm vigorously against it. The transnational progressives who pass out these accolades believe America is the problem in the world, the main threat to peace, the impediment to "progress," etc. The award is a symbolic statement of opposition to American exceptionalism, American might, American capitalism, American self-determinism, and American pursuit of America's interests in the world. That is why Obama could win it based on only ten days in office — merely by capturing the White House and the levers of power, he stands to do more for the Left's "knock America off its pedestal" program than any figure in history.

......

After a number of years, the NFL renamed its Super Bowl trophy after its most fitting recipient — it's now called the Vince Lombardi Trophy. I'd like to see the Nobel Foundation follow suit. If today's headlines said, "Barack Obama Wins Yasser Arafat Prize," that would be perfect.

I welcome the state issue I really do.

maybe those who have moved down here and into our schools will go back home up north and stop trying to make it look down here like the place or hell hole they left in the north

"The Democratic party and their allies are mounting an afternoon public relations offensive to counter the jokes and other negative reactions to the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama for no apparent reason or accomplishment."

When Iran tests its first nuclear weapon (and they will) the Democrats will be astounded and start babbling "But, but, Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. There's supposed to be peace in our time. Barack is the world's Man of Peace."
