"It takes on average 12 years and over US$350 million to get a new drug from the laboratory onto the pharmacy shelf. Once a company develops a drug, it undergoes around three and a half years of laboratory testing, before an application is made to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin testing the drug in humans. Only one in 1000 of the compounds that enter laboratory testing will ever make it to human testing." --- FDA Approval Process

and they developed and got this vaccine on the market in just a few months time? ;-)

Snowball chance in hell of winning, but the right thing to do to make the effort. These guys are trying to save a lot of lives, and maybe the news reports alone will open some people’s eyes to the true story. Glenn Beck tried yesterday.

Heard this evening that the two Obama daughters WILL NOT be vaccinated for H1N1.

Now I wonder what the First Family knows that the rest of us aren’t supposed to know?

A friend's son was advised by a doctor he had the *regular* *seasonal* flu recently and was prescribed Tamiflu.

Even with insurance, the cost was over $100 for 5 doses.

Whether this vaccine is good or bad, profits are definitely at the forefront.

Will someone follow the money? What drug companies are involved? How much money did they get? And what political party do they contribute to?

As I understand it Tamiflu has nasty side affects.

It should not be given to kids unless really necessary.

Makes sense since they live in a bubble and don't have to associate with the great unwashed. However, it still speaks volumes.

“And the core of the argument is that they have not done the proper safety and efficacy tests on the vaccine to allow it to be release at this time.”

Considering how many TRULY important drugs are DENIED or DELAYED because of the FDA’s multi-stage approval process, it's rather remarkable how they just cut through their own red tape to fast track a vaccine to the public, combining Squalene (Shark Liver Oil) and Thiomersal (Mercury - C9H9HgNaO2S) — without thoroughly testing it.

If only the FDA would get out of the way for other promising treatments.

The FDA has already violated their own rules regarding proper testing procedures at least once, after the EPA mandated the replacement of CFC propellants (used in asthma and respiratory inhalers). These propellants had an ~ 50 year safety record, and the replacements were never fully tested. They have proved to be a decidedly inferior replacement.

This was a purely political decision to ‘save the ozone layer’. I’m certain the H1N1 vaccine falls in the same category - driven by politics not science or medicine.

The vaccine / adjuvant combination being referred to as the "swine flu vaccine" has apparently never been safety tested or approved by the FDA

Typical. Either it has or it hasn't. But not knowing that doesn't stop someone from trying to use the situation to draw attention to his cause.

Good! Good!

However:
1. Breaking the law? They don't care.

2. Some will suffer life threatening side effects? They don't care.

You are being much too rational. The motivation for desiring to inoculate everyone in the country is mostly left wing emotionalism. Sorta like global warming. Create an imaginary crisis, then save everyone from it.

They'll need to strap me to a gurney and force into my arm. IOW, we won't be getting it.

Gee, even the Bangkok Post is concerned about Obama’s flu shot. I like how he says he’ll do what his doctor says - what, not what Governor Patrick says or Sebelius?

Obamas to get swine flu vaccine
Published: 20/09/2009 at 10:21 PM
Online news: Breakingnews

America’s first family will get vaccinated against swine flu when they are advised to, President Barack Obama said in a television interview broadcast Sunday.

“We want to get vaccinated. We think it’s the right thing to do. We will stand in line like everybody else and when folks say it’s our turn, that’s when we’ll get it,’’ Obama told CNN’s “State of the Union.’’

With the northern hemisphere entering its autumn flu season and infection rates again beginning to spike, many Americans are waiting for the first deliveries of (A)H1N1 vaccines, expected to come in the first weeks of October.

The emergency services personnel and others who are at risk or vulnerable, including pregnant women and children with underlying conditions, will be first to get the vaccine.

“After that, I think, you’re looking at kids, so Malia and Sasha would fall into that category,’’ Obama said referring to his two young daughters. “I suspect that I may come fairly far down the line.’’

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said last week that the flu season had begun earlier than normal and that the number of detected cases had risen.

“The Obama family plan is to call up my HHS (Health and Human Services) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and my CDC director, and just ask them, what’s your recommendation? And whatever they tell me to do, I will do,’’ Obama said.

Worldwide, at least 3,205 people have died of the virus since it was uncovered in Mexico in April, according to the World Health Organization. The United States has confirmed more than 600 swine flu-related deaths.

The US government has purchased 195 million doses of swine flu vaccine and will make shots against the influenza A(H1N1) virus available free of charge starting next month.

I am recovering from both flu (may be H1N1 but was not tested) and pneumonia. As flus go ... hurts more in the joints but does not last the 2 weeks that I have experienced with other flus.

Flu came to my home yesterday. Doc appointment this afternoon.
Oddly this is the first time I’ve scheduled a doctor appointment for the flu.

I would say the first 72 hrs are the worst. If you can avoid getting really really sick during that time, it should pass quickly.

Unfortunately, I am an asthmatic and have a long history with pneumonia (now 9 times) and the flu just weaken me enough for the pneumonia to return.

Have no fear, it will be tested on those who are dumb enough to get the shot.
