Promoting Capitalism: A Love Story, Michael Moore is beating the drum of his Catholicism in a way that he hasn't previously. Check out this clip from Moore's appearance last night on Sean Hannity's TV show.
When Hannity suggests possible political labels for Moore, the filmmaker responds: "Christian." Then Moore quizzes the Fox News host, a fellow Catholic, on the last time he's been to mass. Trying to out-church him, Moore implies that Hannity is fibbing about having attended mass last weekend.
It's no accident that Moore's new openness about his religious faith is coming now, after the Democratic Party has spent five years urging its members to speak up about their faith to combat the conventional wisdom that the GOP is more religion-friendly. That campaign has spilled over to the broader liberal movement in a big way. But if Moore, Barack Obama, and Nancy Pelosi are all spokespeople for the left's faith-friendliness, where's the national leader of the left's fast-growing secular wing?

Actually, that isn’t in Scripture. Rather, the verse says to judge with the same measure by which one would be judged - i.e. don’t be a hypocrite. Quite a different thing altogether, I’d say, from the way the verse is usually misquoted and very misunderstood!

You certainly demonstrate an uncommon level of maturity to make such a (virtually) public admission. Armed with that attitude, a measure of faith and a prayer for understanding I'm sure you will be blessed with both knowledge and wisdom as you study His word.
As I alluded earlier, Christ spoke in parables for a number of reasons. Parables are simple stories which describe deep meaning in a commonly relatable fashion. But at the same time they are hidden treasures not meant to be understood by those who would not hear. Christ explains this to His disciples in Matthew 13.
I hope I was not too pointed or sarcastic in my earlier post. I know I can be at times.

Could be. I know the RC has been making great strides to correct what it observed to be a total lack of orthodox training for not just students, but clergy, as well. It’s become obvious that what all of us took for granted simply did not occur.
The parable is saying that for a rich man to enter Heaven, he will not be able to bring his posessions with him. It doesnt mean it is impossible for rich men to get into Heaven.

Moore cannot be taken seriously. His patronizing righteousness is simply overbearing.
He pretty good, however, at disarming opponents with falsehoods and nonsense.
My interpretation of this is that the RICH have SO many MORE things to distract them from God and many, many more temptations than a poor person does. Yes, the rich can get to heaven.
That was CCD classes that lasted about one hour or two a week. VERY superficial....nothing like being in a Catholic School where it permeates ALL the classes. I know because I did both.....Catholic School, going to Mass every day, taught by a nun was WAY better....you really learn Catholicism....as long as your parents carry thru with all that Catholicism requires.

Actually, it was government's meddling with Christianity that drove them out - to enjoy freedom of religion! And we should all feel VERY fortunate that it turned out that way. God's plan is often forwarded in ways not understood by contemporary man. Where would Christianity be today if they'd not sought freedom from the king's version of Christianity? Freedom is sweet, but still hard to swallow for many. As demonstrated by several here who wish to dampen it for the 'common good' they feel they are qualified to determine is worth such forfeiture.

Well the guy is not very intelligent. Did he even attend college? I don’t think he did...as much as people bash college on here, it really does give you the tools to think which is where he lacks at times.
College teaches you a lot. Including making you realize that you really don't know that much.
And that, indeed, is a fragment, because the complete verse/context says “by the same measure”.
It means “don’t judge others for failing the standards you’re not willing to uphold yourself”.
True...and I will agree that some of what is taught is not necessary, but it does give you an overall view of many subjects which is good. The only degree I hated getting was my MBA...a complete waste of time IMHO.
