Senate giant killer sees new victim: Reid
The Washington Times ^ | 4 Oct | Kara Rowland

The Republican who ousted the Democratic leader of the Senate in 2004 says Harry Reid finds himself in a similar predicament of representing a conservative-leaning state but leading a liberal party.

Sen. John Thune made Senate history when he unseated Sen. Tom Daschle by exploiting the gap between Mr. Daschle’s interests in Washington and those of his home state of South Dakota. That’s exactly where Mr. Reid, the Senate majority leader, is now, he said.

“In the case of Senator Daschle, he was leading a left-of-center caucus and representing a right-of-center state - it was very difficult to reconcile those two,” Mr. Thune told The Washington Times. “I know that Senator Reid will work very hard over the course of the next several months to convince his voters in Nevada that he’s still very connected to them and in touch, but I think that the perception that he’s got to overcome is that he is leading a left-of-center caucus in Washington that’s trying to do all these things with which they disagree.”

Mr. Reid’s falling approval ratings have led political analysts to declare his 2010 re-election bid a tossup. Recent polls have him trailing at least two possible GOP challengers.

“Anything’s possible, and we have to assume that race is going to be competitive,” Mr. Thune said.

Mr. Thune, a former three-term House member, has earned a reputation as a rising GOP star among the upper chamber. The affable Midwesterner has been a fierce critic of government spending throughout President Obama’s first term - during the debate over the stimulus bill, he routinely noted that one could spend $1 million each day since the birth of Jesus and still not match the plan’s $787 billion price tag.

Reid is gone and he doesn’t even know it. Most incumbents will be eliminated. They just don’t get it. We’re mad, disappointed and frustrated. Heck, we’d probably vote chimps in before they would get re-elected.

J-O-B-S, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs.

Vegas doesn’t have ‘em and, as long as they don’t, Reid will lose his.

Here are my thoughts on the current administration:

Here's my personal gift to viewers who have gone this far. It is of Jenny Lake, in the heart of the Grand Tetons National Park, taken in August of 2008 on a "perfect Kodachrome" sunset. Photographers with some "date rings" will understand that term.

Hey - we’re in Jackson right now. :-) Have to go home this a.m. It’s been snowing, and the fires have made for hazy skies. We’ve gotten a few good shots, but not nearly as many as in 08.

THune is right, the problem is that not much will change. He ousted Daschle, but we still have Daschle who is now meddling in the Healthcare fiasco. Ousted politicians do not go away, they just go lobby.

..do not go away, they just go lobby...
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
I think a lot of them are ‘afraid’ (not ashamed, ‘they’ have no shame) to go home lest their constituents find how much they have REALLY stolen over the years....
(Most) Leave home as ‘regular guys’, probably a little accumulated wealth but come home after decades, filthy rich with all kinds of perks, while grandma and grandpa are fretting about taxes and property values etc....

When the election starts heating up in Nevada next year and the R’s have a viable candidate, I will be opening up my wallet to support whomever and hope fellow Freepers will join me in this effort to unseat Dingy Harry which would be a major blow to the Dummy-Crats as well as put a serious chink in Dear Leader’s armor.

We spent the weekend in Ely, Nevada. We spotted a number of signs declaring the sentiment,”Any one BUTT Harry Reid” The signs varied in size, from the side of a truck size to small yard signs.

What ever happened to FR's favorite picture of Little Tommy Daschle on the night of his defeat? It's been so long since anyone's posted it, that I've even forgotten the caption that goes with it.

Chimps couldn't do much worse than most of the bozos presently in congress.
