If Chicago hosts the 2016 Summer Olympics, will you buy a ticket to go watch an Olympic event?
Yes 23.7% No 76.3%
Total votes: 615
Will police brutality be a demonstration event or a competative event?
Bread and circuses....:)
Now 80.2% no. Not only will we not go, we will not watch it on TV.
NO FREAKING WAY!!
.
No. We drove up from Vermont to Montreal Olympics, 1976, for several days of events. The good seats were usually empty. Must be the privileged couldn’t bother to show up. I wonder if Chicago’s will be the Animal Farm Olympics, where some are more equal than others.
i hope you’re right, but did you see Oprama’s speech? He’s absolutely certain Chicago is gonna be chosen. And obtw, he mentioned 2016 he’ll be finishing up his 2nd term as president. So much cockiness! BO wouldn’t make such definitive statements if the fix wasn’t in. He’s too arrogant and too sensitive to the criticism that will come his way should he be wrong. And as an aside i doubt Oprah would go along if the fix wasn’t in either.
dang Randy, I laughed so hard it hurt...thanks, i needed that...
I hope you're right. Ticks me off that almost half of the city doesn't want the games, and they're having it shoved down their throats. Like they're shoving fascist medicine down the throats of the whole country.
And we live right across from cincinnati.
“I wont even watch the 0lympics on TV if they are in Chicago. I want that commie pig usurper 0bozo to fail in everything he does or says.”
You know, the whole “tude” of this thread is really bugging me. In your very understandable dislike of Obama, his thugs, and his Admin, you are all throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The Olympics are in my opinion, a wonderful tradition, and our athletes work their b*tts off to perfect their athletic skills in preparation for these games. You do a giant disservice to our young athletes, and those of the world who also work for years to prepare for these games, in allowing your myopic hatred for Obama, et al, get in the way of what should be an event our country should be eager to host, regardless of what American city would win the Olympic competition.
And, by the way, I live in a suburb of Chicago and spent most of my working career in Chicago, as well as living there periodically also. Chicago, for the most part, is a wonderful city. It’s shoreline along Lake Michigan is magnificent, its cultural events are many, diverse, interesting and fun. Its history is unique for an American city, its architecture unsurpassed, and I’m sick and tired of hearing a bunch of ignorant people who have never been to the city or bothered to seek out its good parts rather than voice a litany of its alleged faults, badmouth Chicago endlessly.
Obama was not a born Chicagoan, he came here from elsewhere (originally from Kenya, the land of his birth), and it sickens me that Chicago has to bear the brunt of the dislike that emanates from the fact that he chose to move here and make it his home. Chicago is a great city, and those that take the time to really get to know her as well as I do, know this as well.
I love the Olympics, I love the competition amongst the best in their respective athletic events, and the patriotism it inspires when our athletes compete and take home the gold, silver, or bronze. I hope Chicago wins, and the Olympics come to our country, because I am patriotic about our country, our athletes, and our friendliness and welcoming attitude to visitors from around the world. Except for on this thread, that is.
When the Olympics were in L.A. it was a royal pain in the rear.
Traffic was an even bigger mess than usual.
And as if there weren’t enough folks who didn’t speak English in the city already.
I liked the chicago hotdogs at demon dogs by the fullerton El stop :0)

The Chicago hot dog is the greatest. When at one point I lived in New Town on the northside, it wasn’t very far from Fullerton Avenue. I worked at UIC (Univ. of IL at Chicago) until I retired, and I was right in the middle of distinct ethnic neighborhoods. Surrounding the University was Greektown, Little Italy, the Mexican Pilson area (it was Middle European before it became Mexican, hence the Czech name Pilson) and near west side, the old Maxwell market area where all the Jewish merchants had their shops for many years, black Roosevelt Street area, and a little further south, Chinatown. You could ethnically eat your way through the hoods, feasting on the most marvelous food.
Even Chicago cops don’t walk Chicago streets without taking along an additional bunch of Chicago cops.

Ma’am, I’m glad you love your city; but personally, I will NEVER spend my money in ANY state that denies my Constitutional and Basic Human Right to protect my family, myself, and those around me with a firearm. Regardless of the Olympics.
I wouldn’t being my family or anyone else I hold dear anywhere NEAR Chicago or any other city that doesn’t recognize my RIGHT as a Citizen to carry a firearm for personal defense against, oh, say, for example those “underprivileged, oppressed victims” who beat a kid to death on film in your city a few days back, while the camera-holder cheered it on and did nothing.
And whether FuBO was born here or in Kenya is moot now; if he gets the Olympics here, it’s a victory for him and the Dems, and any victory for him/them is a loss for anyone who calls themselves “American”.
We didn’t politicize this; He did.
Right now, we’re at war with people who would like nothing better than to behead every single man, woman, and child who disagrees with them, we have a General stating flatly “Send More Troops or we will lose”, and this stumbling, bumbling amateur communist *ssclown is worried about getting the Olympics as a feather in his cap - in between gladhanding Communist thug dictators and apologizing about the country that gave him everything in front of other thugs in the UN.
No offense ma’am, but I don’t want to see ANYTHING that moves him forward with his agenda.
Let them hold the Olympics anywhere else. We have bigger problems right now than this distraction.
And I DEARLY love my Country and am a Patriot too. That’s WHY I am this way about this issue.
What is America’s fascination with the Olympics? They were just here in ‘96 in Atlanta and in ‘02 in Salt Lake. Do they really need to come back to the U.S. again already? Let someone else have them for, say, a few decades.
