Ho-Hum, Another Feathered Dinosaur

--snip--

Last January when the most recent flap about feathered dinosaurs made the rounds (01/21/2009), we listed 18 questions that should be asked before believing the claims made about bird and feather evolution. It would be a good time to review those again (see also footnote 3). The rush to judgment and eagerness to prove dinobird evolution should raise red flags...

” I know that she will not (like you) declare that God in the Intelligent Designer.”

Why is whether they say this or that so important to you?

It is in reference to GGGs statements about IDers posting on FR. I have never positively seen one but acknowledged that there may be some undeclared ones on FR. Metmom came to my mind as one since she has declared that there is an ID but refuses to declare that God is the ID. Do you believe that God is the ID?

I am a lowercase intelligent design proponent

Is that like God with a lower case "G"?

There are a number of Intelligent Design and OEC creationists on my list. However, I don't feel it is my job to point out who they are just to satisfy your antagonistic curiosity. But I must say, you must not have been paying very good attention, because they have all declared themselves as such at one time or another.

God is intelligent and a designer, ergo, intelligent designer.
When something is capitalized in English it can change it from the general to the specific, ID vs id.

But why is that “declaration” or refusal so important?
Is it intended to be some sort of pejorative or what?

Oh. God is the intelligent designer but not THE Intelligent Designer? Did the ID create the id?

If the ID'ers have declared themselves, why are you afraid to name them? Perhaps they exist only in your mind?

He doesn’t seem to have a problem with religion, so long as it is evo-religion.

Well put, OneVike. Many of the evolution believers simply think that us doubters are nothing more than simpletons, like the caricature of the village idiot you see in an old movie. Myself, I grew up believing the evolution stories, I was always interested in science and I went to gifted schools and took AP science courses in high school, and engineering physics classes in college even though they weren’t a requirement for me. I got a perfect score in the science section of my ACT as well. I didn’t just decide one day to ignore everything I had been taught and believed for over 20 years without any reasoning.

When I became a Christian, I struggled with this issue for some time before I was forced to come to the conclusions that I hold know. I didn’t just open the Bible one day and say, “hey this 6,000 years business is a lot simpler than what scientists teach, I’m going to run with it!” No, I was led by the Lord to the truth of the matter, slowly but surely. Evolution is an affront to reason, and the only way that they are able to maintain the illusion that it is not, is by obscuring the gaping holes in their theory from the public. Every few months, their lapdogs like National Geographic will trot out a sensational story about a fossil, some circular reasoning-based genetic study, or a whimsical theory built on total speculation. All of this is simply to distract the masses from ever noticing the fundamental, irreconcilable problems that have existed with their theory since Darwin put his pen to paper.

Yet, the theory will continue to be accepted with little skepticism because it tells people what they want to hear. There is no God, you are not accountable to any higher power, so do as you please, as long as you don’t break the law (or get caught). Meanwhile, no matter how high they build their house of cards, they cannot wish away the existence of God, or the evidence of Him which exists, even in our own hearts. We who are blessed to have had our eyes opened can take solace in the fact that God has told us that He allows this folly to continue for it serves His purposes, not because it serves the selfish lusts of mankind.

Because I cannot fathom a believer in God not wanting to declare that He is the ID.

If you want English lessons, I charge for the time. But why is someone’s declaration or refusal of importance to you? It doesn't seem like a difficult question, does it?

Yes it is an easy question to answer. That is why I question a persons faith when they declare that there is an ID but will not declare that God is the ID.

The explanation seems obvious to me. Of course a creationist believes in God, and believes he is intelligent, and that he is a designer. That kind of goes without saying. However, ID has come to encompass beliefs that many creationists wouldn’t agree with, hence they don’t want themselves lumped in with that group, and hence have people assume you agree with all of their views.

Libertarians and Conservatives agree on some main points, but I’m sure you’d have problems getting Conservatives to call themselves Libertarians based on that logic alone.

It was you that said that God was the id but not the ID. English lessons will not impact that.

My point exactly. GGG and others here are fond of saying "Creationists and IDers ..." lumping them together. That was my question. Since they have certain incompatible beliefs, why do certain posters lump them together.

Just because people on my list occasionally swat flies does not mean I should therefore bring more flies for them to swat.

engineering physics classes in college

Interesting. I enrolled in FSU's Engineering Physics program many years ago but it only lasted a couple of years. I have never seen another college with an Engineering Physics program. Were you in the FSU program?
