WASHINGTON Senate Finance Committee Democrats have rejected a GOP amendment that would have required a health overhaul bill to be available online for 72 hours before the committee votes.
Republicans argued that transparency is an Obama administration goal. They also noted that their constituents are demanding that they read bills before voting.
Democrats said it was a delay tactic that could have postponed a vote for weeks.

We need a nationwide work stoppage, a rolling blackout of taxes, a demonstration that we can and do control the economy and the governmental purse strings. We need to be angry enough to not be afraid of the IRS. TEA means we stop paying the taxes for these unfunded federal programs.
How is the question? How do we make it effective?
It's a "conceptual" summary.
See Dems lied, transparency died: Senate Finance Committee nixes Obamacare online disclosure
Currently, the only version of Chairman Max Baucuss proposal we have is a 223-page draft (PDF) that is written in plain English and explains the bill in conceptual terms. Republicans argued that until the bill is written in legislative language it will be impossible for the CBO to provide an accurate cost estimate.
Democrats accepted an alternate amendment to make conceptual language available online before a vote.
Get it? The Dems are willing to put out conceptual explanations of the bill's conceptual language. Can they be more insulting? Duh.
Sad, but true, I believe.
The opaqueness of the transparent Obama administration.
The very nerve of some people...
Lucky they created FR for us so you can purge that energy from your system by posting it instead of actually doing something about it.
Yep as transparent as cardboard!
These bastards don’t even try to pretend to be doing the work of the People.
They want to shove this bill down our throats and do so without even the courtesy of letting the people know what is being voted on.
Sick of Washington, D.C.
Utterly, totally, completely sick of it. Both parties.
I don’t know what this government has become, but it does NOT represent me any longer.
Messed them up last time. Someone else needs to get a copy of that horror and post it.
It’s not, you are right. It looks like Americans don’t have the will power or guts to take it back. It’s coming down to 2 choices now. Learn to like or deal with it, or tell them to stick and move out. I choose number 2. At least we will have peace and quiet in a country that is small, has beautiful beaches, is ridiculously cheaper than living here, the government is a Constitutional Democracy, health care is fabulous and cheap, so is health insurance and the people are warm and friendly.
Ah, thanks for that.

Egad, we are so screwed.
The more I watch Obama’s Administration and the Democratically-controlled
Congress...
The more I’m reminded of the mad-cap portrayed by George C. Scott
in the film “The Flim-Flam Man”.
And realize how much more ethical the Flim-Flam Man was compared
to today’s Democrats. Even the Blue Dogs.
'Caint cheat an honest man' :)
