I was there too. People like BORe can say what they want, but there were 2.2 million of us and nobody is even mentioning that at least 45 states held local TEA parties. I suggest one f/o Rockefeller Center ( NBC and CNN) on Nov 1 2009. We can't wait too long for another one and we can't have one too soon either. Nov 1 is the anniversary of the Stamp Act. TEA parties could be held in Atlanta DC NYC Boston and LA and -just my thought.

I believe that there should be another event, same time, same place only twice as big. With the 2010 election two months from then it would be huge and folks would have plenty of time to plan.

I'm kicking myself for not going. It sounds like it was something special.

It was special and if you get a chance again make sure you’re there. I’m not much for crowds or yelling, but my jaw was sore for three days from yelling.

I would make one recommendation to the organizers for a future event. Have a more extensive sound system. I doubt they expected the crowds to extend almost to the Washington monument.

Here’s something to make you feel like you were there. I keep checking back for the other speakers’ part - it was a 4-hour workshop and ended too soon.

Here is a link to the AYN RAND workshop I was able to attend in DC. There were 4 speakers and this wrap-up... At the website, John David Lewis’ part is available under “Individual Rights and The Tea Party Movement”. I learned a LOT about what it is all about: INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS! John Lewis’ is the one I emailed you about earlier.

The photo you are using is of the “Stand in the Gap” gathering put on by Promise Keepers. If you will notice there is no crowd on the capital grounds and the mall is full. Compare...but all in all a great gathering and a least 30 people came ;^)

Nice try, but I got the photo from a blog of a group that was there.

I am NOT disputing numbers of the TEA Party. I AM saying that the photo you are using is being misrepresented as the TEA Party event when in fact it is of the Promise Keepers Stand in the Gap gathering. I was there on October 4, 1997 and have a copy of that very poster obtained just following the event.

Compare the photos and ask them or anyone who was there; Was there a stage west of the reflecting pool facing west toward the mall? Did the TEA Party have mega-tron screens placed down through the center of the mall as did PK? Were there Tepees between the Washington Monument and the White House for the TEA Party as there were during SITG? Also if this picture is of the TEA Party, why are there no people on the grounds directly around the Capital Building? And where is gap in the crowd on the mall where the other folks had it reserved? As I said compare...

This is PK SITG

This is PK SITG

This is the TEA Party

Have a good day.

I was there too Kleon and the photo looks “wrong” for the crowd and mall that I saw.

Crowd was on the Avenue during the march and on the grounds for the afternoon speeches...

I saw as many people leaving before the afternoon program as there were coming for it. That would add huge numbers to the total!

Big tent was on the mall and some “reserved ribbon” was set around other areas too.

Go back and check for the picture to be used for comparison...maybe?

I even if that is not a photo of the event, that's what 2 million people on the mall looks like, so it's accurate.

I still trust all the blogs that posted it, however.

I was there, the photo you posted is not one of the 9/12 rally. For one thing, 9/12 was a cloudy day, for another, the crowd was not so much on the Mall as it was on the West Lawn and down PA Ave NW. I don’t care where you got it, it’s a red herring.
