NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- New York businessman and prominent Democratic fund- raiser Hassan Nemazee was indicted Monday for allegedly defrauding three banks out of $292 million in loans.
Nemazee, 59 years old, was charged with aggravated identity theft and three counts of bank fraud in the indictment. Each bank fraud count carries a term of up to 30 years in prison.
A lawyer for Nemazee didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
Nemazee, who was involved in various presidential campaigns and once served as finance chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, was initially charged criminally in August related to a loan he allegedly obtained fraudulently from Citigroup Inc.'s (C) Citibank unit.
Prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan also are seeking $292 million in forfeiture in the case.
In the indictment, prosecutors alleged that Nemazee obtained hundreds of millions of loans from Bank of America Corp. (BAC), Citigroup and HSBC Holdings Plc (HBC) between 1998 and 2009.

Interesting Obama believes that having the AG of the U.S. investigate and witch hunt members of the CIA that are serving honorably in the service of thier country is a better use of taxpayer money and government resources then say investigating ACORN or any number of these corrupt Democrat fundraisers or even leftist militant poll workers who during the election brandished knight sticks at polling places hollaring “You are about to be ruled by the Black Man, Cracker” ....

Or Democratic government, via “non profit” group ACORN (with aid of taxpayer dollars), strong-arms banks into giving loans to less than credit-worthy inner city poor, to garner political support from that segment of the population, which then causes a snowball effect that eventually causes a huge mortgage lending crisis, which turns into an economic crisis, which Democrats then use to get trillions of bailout money, which they then turn around and award to their loyal cronies, while sending the government deeper into debt and stalling recovery, causing more to go on welfare rolls .....
and on and on it goes. Sly devils, aren’t they?
