McChrystal to resign if not given resources for Afghanistan
The Long War ^ | 9/21/09 | Bil Roggio

Posted on 09/21/2009 3:03:40 PM PDT by pissant

Within 24 hours of the leak of the Afghanistan assessment to The Washington Post, General Stanley McChrystal's team fired its second shot across the bow of the Obama administration. According to McClatchy, military officers close to General McChrystal said he is prepared to resign if he isn't given sufficient resources (read troops) to implement a change in direction in Afghanistan:

Adding to the frustration, according to officials in Kabul and Washington, are White House and Pentagon directives made over the last six weeks that Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the top U.S. military commander in Afghanistan, not submit his request for as many as 45,000 additional troops because the administration isn't ready for it.

In the last two weeks, top administration leaders have suggested that more American troops will be sent to Afghanistan, and then called that suggestion "premature." Earlier this month, Adm. Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that "time is not on our side"; on Thursday, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates urged the public "to take a deep breath."

Great point!

One can’t vote “present” when one is “President”. Zero is way over his ignorant little head!

Lets hope that the military draws the proper conclusions and acts on them.

that’s what an honorable officer does. If he feels he can not in good conscience follow the policies that are given to him... then he resigns. He doesn’t screw his troops by making little comments “off the record” to the press to cover his a## or allow himself to be used by a communist punk that wants to criminalize warfare and destroy the military and America.

LBJ ...

Yes, that’s it! I thought this sounded familiar. Now it sounds like Obama wants another Viet Nam.

Write your representatives, because Articles of Impeachment are brought in the House. The trial takes place in the Senate after-wards... that is if you do not have a ball-less rino pos like trent lott to block the trial.

Where - WHERE I ask is Colon Powell now?!!!

Isn't he the guy who vouched for Barry's incredible “judgment” and “capability” to be a good Commander in Chief?

Does Powell understand what his authentication of Barry's credential has done to his own troops that Powell loves so much?

C’mon Colon, time to be a stand up retired General and back one of your own.

But first you must admit that 0bama and his Policy is as tragically incapable to meet this challenge of Afghanistan as Bozo the Clown.

Where is Colon Powell NOW?

After the marines got killed last week because we couldn’t call in fire on civilians, all the commanders should have resigned.

Good Point.

What do we do when we have incompetent leadership in the Oval Office? Send our finest to die over there, while we wait to be over-run here at home?

I remember a line from Shakespeare that fits, but do not want to get JimRob in trouble.

Powell is refurbishing his Obama kneepads.

nah.. he's working to get more relatives on the gubmint feeding line....like his son.

Powell wants some "street cred".. so I'm suspecting he'll be chillin with Kanye about how the "man" is keeping the brothers down.

“Obama doesn’t want to fight. He doesn’t want to leave. He’s LBJ all over again.”

I think he's well away from LBJ.

I figure his strategy is going to be ‘no more troops’ and that Afghanistan is the ‘wrong war’ after all.

Possibly, unless he decides to send more of our troops in there a few at a time and let them get chopped up.

Of course he does. And he is doing exactly what he needs to humiliate and denigrate the United States.

I am thankful that he is an honorable man.

A. Your honorable man put his signature to the new Rules of Engagement that tie our troops hands and have already cost lives.

B. Maybe your honorable man doesn't want to be the general who lost Afghanistan.

He wants to break the Army.

He wants it to be 1974 all over again.

Precisely.

“Get out while you can...and take your troops with you!!”

NO! stay the course! Give the General what he needs and stand back - let him loose to do the job.

He and those marvelous troops can do the job and do it well.

Thank you, General McChrystal! Even obama, as much as he hates our soldiers, wouldn't want to be blamed for their deaths, as he would be if General McChrystal put him on the spot like this and obama failed to follow the general's expert professional advice.

McChrystal will do what’s right. It’s in his blood.

The sad thing is that the troops will lose and the nation will lose if we lose this honorable general to those playing games with troops in a war zone.

.......Zero is way over his ignorant little head!............

So Zer0, you’re concerned about every Soldier, Airman, Marine, and Sailor in Afganistan; dying at the rate of about ten a week, but you need eight weeks to decide what the growing political winds tell your wet up-raised middle finger to do.

So, as you prepare speeches on most major networks; try to decide which Broadway show Michelle would enjoy to spend a few million dollars from us subject schlubs, try to force health taxes on us...cap and tax, finance takeover, etc...................

Maybe you should focus on the fact that during the next eight weeks of your pondering, about 80 American heros will come home in body bags - all because you are too weak to make a decision about the future of your war. God help you!

May God help us to get through this presidential nightmare!
