Barack Obama to renew US climate change commitment at UN summit
Guardian ^ | 20 September 2009 | Suzanne Goldenberg

Barack Obama will renew his commitment to green America's economy and join international action on global warming in a speech to the United Nations climate change summit on Tuesday.

The appearance is a chance to offer much needed assurances to nearly 100 world leaders that the president can deliver on his promise for early action on climate change – now that the issue has taken second place to health care in the Senate.

The delay has added to uncertainty that the Senate will move forward on a bill to reduce greenhouse gas emissions before the crucial climate change summit at Copenhagen in December.

The house of representatives narrowly passed a climate change bill last June that would cut emissions by about 6% below 1990 levels, and the Obama administration has used its powers to cut car emissions and encourage the creation of green jobs.

But negotiators fear the low target and the delay on moving the bill forward give the emerging big polluters – India and China – a convenient excuse to avoid firm commitments on reducing their own emissions.

Do not expect any bold action from Obama on Tuesday – either on a target for cutting US emissions or the other big issue in the way of a Copenhagen deal: climate finance. Poor countries are frustrated that the US and other industrialised states have not been clear on aid to help the developing world cope with rising sea levels and extreme temperatures of climate change – the other big issue in the way of a Copenhagen deal.

Poor countries are frustrated that the US and other industrialised states have not been clear on aid to help the developing world cope with rising sea levels and extreme temperatures of climate change

Here is the real agenda. More aid for developing countries. Spread the wealth.

They need the scam's taxes, look at his budget, see the Treasury report here. $300 billion a year, over $2000 per family per year.

All for a scam.

He will never be able to deliver. The American people are in no mood to support him on an aggressive global warming agenda.

Naturally, Obama will come out in support of Cap-N-Trade, said it was imperative, we only have one year left before crap hits the fan. The vast plurality of American voters who are idiots will parrot and cheerlead whatever he says, and it won’t go anywhere but keep getting delayed. All the while nothing happens.

A year from now, it will either be as hot, cooler, or just a tiny bit hotter than this year. Given the current solar situation, I would say cooler.

Won’t matter what he promises. We’re kickin’ his sorry butt out in ‘12.

If we’re lucky, the butt will land in Europe, where he can resume his previous religion.

May the flies of a thousand camels come to rest in Obama’s septic water.

Nope - you are wrong. It isn’t even about “spreading the wealth”... it is about power - PERIOD. Spreading the wealth is a tool to garner support from those nations who will receive it. But support for what? POWER. We are closer to a single worldwide government than ever in human history.

Unless someone can prove that Mount Everest is less than 29,029 feet about sea level, I will remain convinced that the sea level is not rising.

where are these rising sea levels and temperature increases?

There is more arctic ice than in previous years.
Temperatures have been declining for a decade.
Polar bears are breeding.
We had one of the mildest and wettest summers ever here in Dallas - but I know that is anecdotal. Wouldn’t want to use that type of info to prove my point. ;->

The world will be sent into an economic slump, lasting for however long this “climate change” fairy tale is going to be imposed on naive and trusting people.

Just by the sheer size of the natural generation of carbon dioxide from ongoing life processes, whatever feeble little amount that man produces shrivels to total insignificance.

Despite rulings to the contrary, carbon dioxide is NOT a pollutant, and attempts to picture the substance as being so, are either displaying willful ignorance, or knowingly propagating a falsehood. Carbon dioxide is so bound up in our very life processes, it cannot ever be disentangled. We are a carbon-based life form, for cat’s sake, and plants NEED carbon dioxide to even exist. Carbon dioxide is an essential part of the life cycle of all humanity, the entire animal kingdom, the entire plant kingdom and a great many inorganic reactions that take place in the earth’s crust, oceans, atmosphere, and the interior of the planet, and MUST be preserved at all costs.

Water vapor is from some twenty to over 100 times as potent a “greenhouse gas” as carbon dioxide could ever be. And it would be totally pointless to regulate water vapor.

Air Composition
The sea-level composition of air (in percent by volume at the temperature of 15°C and the pressure of 101325 Pa) is given below.

Name-Symbol-Percent by Volume
Nitrogen-N2-78.084 %
Oxygen-O2-20.9476 %
Argon-Ar-0.934 %
Carbon
Dioxide-CO2-0.0384 %
Neon-Ne-0.001818 %
Methane-CH4-0.0002 %
Helium-He-0.000524 %
Krypton-Kr-0.000114 %
Hydrogen-H2-0.00005 %
Xenon-Xe-0.0000087 %

Water vapor is a highly variable component of the atmosphere, ranging from less than 1% to more than 4% of the volume of a given amount of air, and is expressed as “relative humidity”.

1997 Edition

Carbon dioxide (CO2): CO2 is produced naturally by living organisms and by the burning of fossil fuels. Carbon dioxide accounts for the largest share of US greenhouse gas emissions. In 1990, the CO2 emissions were approximately 85% of the total, although the carbon sinks in forested lands offset CO2 emissions by about 8%. Worldwide carbon emissions have grown by about 27% since the industrial revolution.

Nitrous Oxide (N2O): Naturally occurring, N2O is produced by fuel burning and in fertilizer manufacturing. In 1990, N2O accounted for about 2.5% of US emissions. Global Warming Potential (GWP): 310 times greater than CO2.

Methane: Methane comes from coal formations and from landfills, livestock digestive processes, decomposing waste, and wetland rice cultivation. In 1990, methane accounted for almost 12% of the US total emissions. Global warming potential: About 21 times higher than that of CO2.

Hydrofluorocarbon gases (HFC): These gases were developed largely as an alternative to ozone-damaging chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) banned under the 1987 Montreal Protocol. HFCs do not damage the ozone layer, but they do contribute to global warming. They are used largely in refrigeration and as in semi-conductor manufacturing. Global warming potential: 140 to 11,700 times that of CO2.

Perfluorocarbons (PFC): Result as a by-product of aluminum smelting, and uranium enriching. Also are manufactured to replace CFCs in making semi-conductors. Global warming potential: 7,400 times CO2.

Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6): Largely used in heavy industry to insulate high-voltage equipment and to assist the manufacturing of cable cooling systems. Global warming potential: 23,900 times that of CO2.

Sources: U.S. Energy Information Agency, International Energy Agency, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Nitrous Oxides (NOx) are highly soluble in the water vapor, and are washed to earth as various forms of nitrous acid, nitric acid and simply dissolved in the raindrops. And it is all extremely dilute, combining with elements in the soil to form the very vital nitrates and nitrites that are the basis of formation of protein in living tissue.

Methane comes up as a burp from decaying organic matter. It is minimally soluable in water, and under the right conditions of temperature and pressure, forms an unusual compound called Methane Hydrate, in which some 166 volumes of methane are held in a matrix of water molecules, and reduced down to one volume. This substance occurs naturally at ocean depths of greater than 1,000 feet where the temperature is a steady 38° F, it is slightly heaver than water, and simply accumulates on the continental shelf around the planet, just lying there as nuggets in the ooze.

The hydrofluorocarbon, perfluorocarbon, and sulfur hexafluoride gases are extremely insignificant in comparison to the other gases in the atmosphere, as we are talking about parts per BILLION, or even parts per TRILLION. These are only noticed because there are extremely sensitive intruments to measure them. Even near points of formation, the atmospheric concentration is very low, and they tend to lie very close to the surface of the earth, and eventually break down by action of sunlight.

Now that we know the truth everything is going to be all right? I think Al Gore also knows what you have pointed out so it is probably not the truth that is driving this. Looks like the conservationists are blaming capitalism for the evils of global warming then using the lie to make money. Imagine that. Wearing the mask of socialism the elite manipulate the thundering herd and come out wealthy.
