My advise to the Farmers in the San Joaquin Valley - TURN YOUR WATER ON!
JEFFHEAD.COM ^ | September 17, 2009 | Jeff Head

Posted on 09/17/2009 8:26:34 PM PDT by Jeff Head

Here we go again.

I was watching Sean Hannity tonight (9/17/2009), and have been following loosely the situation in the San Joaquin Valley of California with their water crisis over the small Delta Smelt minnow and its endangered species listing.

The Farmers have water rights to that water. There is no legal water rights for that water for a minnow over the farmers. There is only a manufactured judicial legal decision by liberal judges based on junk science and the whims of administrators and bureaucrats that create these incidents based on the Endangered Species Act and a rabid environmental policy.

This is an illegal "taking", and it is unconstitutional on its face. And it simply cannot stand.

This sounds more and more like what happened in the Klamath Basin Water Crisis to farmers of Oregon and northern California in 2001. At that time, the magical fish was the sucker fish...and every farmer in that basin knew that the sucker fish was not endagered and that they did not need a "full" lake to survive. It was junk science being used to push an anti-American environmental agenda then...plain and simple...and it is the same today.

Here is my suggestion to the Farmers and their allies in the San Joaquin Valley.

You have the numbers...many more people actively engaged in the fight than we had in Klamath. In Klamath, there were many meetings with politicians...followed by meetings with "officials" of government agencies. In the end, the result was the same...the water stayed off.

It was not until a few farmers and their allies took control of the headgates and turned the water back on that things began to happen. In that case, only a dozen farmers and their allies were at the gates the next morning when 50-70 armed law enforcement officers came and took the head gates back and again turned off the water.

If we had had 1000 farmers and their allies there that morning, they would not have been able to do so.

As it was, we did not, and so those officers, who had reconnoitered our position through the night, turned the water back off...temporarily.

But that was the spark and by the next afternoon, the farmers and their allies gathered en masse and surrounded the law enforcement officers (most of whom absolutely did not want to be there) and made their life miserable over the course of many weeks.

Ultimately, after the farmers pumped the water in small quanitities, and then siphoned it in larger quantities around the headgates, at a later rally where many hundreds were present, the farmers crossed the line again and penned the government officers in.

Soon thereafter, legal decisions began to change and the crisis was ultimately resolved and returned to the status quo and the farmers got their water.

To this day the Klamath Basin has continued getting enough water to farm.

Now the fight has moved to the much larger and larger producing San Joaquin Valley.

In the end, my advise is simple.

STOP BEING GLAD HANDED BY POLITIICANS AND OFFICIALS.

FIND A WAY TO TURN YOUR WATER ON THEN STAND VIGIL BY THE THOUSANDS AND KEEP IT ON.

Your livelihood, your way of life...YOUR LIBERTY is worth the effort and the risk. And make no mistake, that is exactly what is at stake here.

And make no mistake the rest of America...YOUR livelihood, your way of life, and your liberty by extension is also at stake. For if they can do this to your neighbors there in California and get away with it...they can do it to you.

Once those lines are drawn, and you engage in civil disobedience in this fashion, people will flock to you by the tens of thousands and the administration will be forced to turn things around and magically find, as the Bush administration did before them, the "new science" to support a reversal of their current policy.

God bless you farmers there. God bless all who support you.

In the end, it is your decision. This advise is simply given from one who witnessed the same type of governmental infringement, the same unconstitutional and illegal takings, the same judicial and environmental tyranny that you are experiencing now...and stood with those who did something about it.

Yet another winner of an issue that the Republicans are ignoring. What a pitiful bunch.

FYI! This is the article about the lawsuit they were talking about tonight.

San Joaquin Valley Water Users File Suit Over Water Restrictions

Federal Actions To Protect Salmon Based On Flawed Science

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ — The Coalition for a Sustainable Delta (Coalition) and the Kern County Water Agency jointly filed suit against the United States Department of Commerce, National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) for their continued failure to address all factors or stressors that impact the Delta ecosystem and its fish species. The suit focuses on recent federal actions, designed to protect salmon populations, which will bring great harm to California’s economy and ongoing water crisis, but provide little help to the ecosystem or its fisheries.

The water pumping restrictions contained in the revised NMFS salmon biological opinion (BiOp) will further reduce water supplies for 25 million Californians, millions of acres of farmland and countless businesses throughout the state.

“Federal regulators are layering bad decisions on bad decisions and exacerbating California’s water crisis. Residents, farmers, farm workers and our economy are already paying a high price for the inability of federal regulators to address the real problems regarding a declining Delta ecosystem,” said Jim Beck, Kern County Water Agency General Manager. “The salmon BiOp adds to the problem without providing any real solutions.”

Federal regulators continue to focus their attention only on the water projects and continue to ignore the effects of other stressors on the Delta and its native fish species. The suit focuses on three main issues:

Failure to use the best available science and data;
Failure to properly analyze the effects of all stressors on listed species; and
Failure of federal agencies to demonstrate the benefit to the listed species from further pumping restrictions.

The overall health of the Delta ecosystem, including the health of salmon and green sturgeon, is in decline due to a number of stressors. Among the well known factors contributing to the decline are contaminated run-off; pesticide discharges; predation from striped bass, black bass and other non-native species; widespread pollution from wastewater treatment plants; development of levees; dredging; operation and expansion of shipping channels; and land-use activities.

“We cannot allow federal bureaucrats to continue destroying our economy based on bad science and untested theories. By again focusing only on water pumping and failing to address all the Delta stressors, our economy will be further damaged, businesses and workers will unnecessarily suffer, and the Delta ecosystem and fish populations will continue to decline,” said Michael Boccadoro, a spokesperson for the Coalition.

The Coalition for a Sustainable Delta (Coalition) is an ad hoc group of water users who depend on conveyance through the Delta for a large portion of their water supplies. The Coalition is dedicated to protecting the Delta and is committed to promoting a strategy to ensure its sustainability.

The Kern County Water Agency (Agency) was created in 1961 by a special act of the State Legislature and serves as the local contracting entity for the State Water Project. The Agency participates in a wide scope of management activities, including water quality, flood control and groundwater operations to preserve and enhance Kern County’s water supply—the main ingredient for a healthy economy.

So, you’re saying that most of them probably voted for Zero then? How really stupid. If true, they shouldn’t be surprised at what’s happening.

It’s different for the rest of us...the conservatives. We voted AGAINST Zero. We knew what he was all about. And now we will suffer the consequences of the stupidity of others. As usual, the many will suffer for the actions of the stupid few and the voting dead.

“Have they shut down water flowing into LA via the aqueduct yet or only the irrigation part to the farmers? Seems to me if there is a problem with the fish it should affect Los Angeles as well.”

Absolutely, all of Southern California that gets water from Metropolitan Water District is on water rationing.

Don’t wash your car and shower with your neighbor!

It may lead to that...but practicing civil disobedience by taking the gates and pumps that pump your own water puts them on notice and the ball in their court. They would have to escalate it to that...not us...and then the balloons go up on their account.

In addition, just my advise...but I would be very careful about posting direct bloodshed advise on an open forum like FR.

Save that for people you trust with your life, and where you know your comms are secure...because with these types of folks in power now, that is exactly waht it will mean.

I’m thinking that there is, in reality, plenty of water to go around for Americans, just like there is plenty of oil. Naturally, the leftists are lying about both resources.

But perhaps Zero and his commie cohorts plan to ship off a good part of American water to his Muslime buds in those not-so-irrigated countries. Makes you wonder.

Hello?? Hello? Anyone home? Those folks aren’t suffering from a water shortage. The federal government is not allowing them to use the water they have because it believes a fish is more important than their livelihoods. Read the story. Watch the video. All the desalinated water in the world won’t help them if the government won’t let them use it to farm.

They are still democrats, like most farmers which is a hangover from the depression.

I wouldn’t say they voted for obama but I would guess that most of the farm workers voted for obama and there ar a lot of farm workers for every farmer.

Most of thew farms in the valley are over 10,000 acres and many 100,000 or more.

I personally know 2 that farm over 100,000 acres.

After listening to eight long years (actually, more like nine) of the liberal leftists threatening Bush’s life and squealing for impeachment over the Iraq war, it would figure that THIS administration would try to come after anyone speaking in the same manner.

Well, I can’t imagine someone considering themself a Democrat and NOT voting Democrat. I just wonder what they were thinking. Did they NOT know which party is the one that pushes this enviro wacko bs?

This couldn’t be any worse if the government was going in and taking the farms away and giving them to their socialist buds that know nothing about farming. Same end result. No food for Americans.

FIND A WAY TO TURN YOUR WATER ON THEN STAND VIGIL BY THE THOUSANDS AND KEEP IT ON.

Exactly right!

One more thing, all what these pump need to protect the f*g fish is a screen or a cage around the suction pipe(s). Any contractor can put a stainless mesh deep in the soil and higher than the highest possible water level around the pump suction inlet piping, et voila!

The only thing is that environmental whackos don't want a solution; they want control, pure and simple.

I have other non-engineering suggestions that couldn't be put in writing.

No, they are afraid they will never get control of the entire population of the USA! It is all about control and making slaves of us. Either realize that and accept it or get your chains ready!

Same thought came to my mind - there are thousands of people directly affected by this. Do some disobedience and turn those valves on. I doubt the governator would send the National Guard to stop them (heck the Guard would probably help).

If they did send the guard we could still whip their a**!
