It's Still the Economy, Stupid
WSJ Online ^ | Daniel Henninger

Snip....

Assets in 401(k) accounts were ravaged. Much of the economy appeared to have fallen into the hands of fools and knaves. Businesses that once were economic beacons—GM, Chrysler, Lehman, much of Wall Street—were breaking off and falling into the sea.

Snip....

The most recent Wall Street Journal/NBC poll has 87% of the public somewhat or very dissatisfied with the economy. The unemployment rate is likely to go above 10% for all 2010. Whatever GDP growth may occur, there is no evidence of new-job creation. Gold's price has risen above $1,000, suggesting inflation is swimming below the economy's flat surface. China is stockpiling gold and worrying out loud about the weak dollar. A U.N. panel said this week the world should abandon the dollar as the world's anchor currency.

The ObamaComs think of it this way. "It's Still 'Very Likely' the Economy, Stupid."

1992...a bad year for capitalism is better than the greatest year of socialism.

No it's not. That cue is taken by the Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms ONLY when Republicans control Congress and the White House, in which case they talk the economy down relentlessly, and paint a picture of doom and gloom and hopelessness.

The only interest those scumbags have in "the economy" nowadays is puffing it up and painting as pretty a picture as they can in order to make Ubama and the rest of their party look good.

It's just the way it is.

I got the feeling that one of the main concerns of the tea party movement is not wanting to die as paupers.

We need to get jobs back from where ever and clean the sewer in DC.

a bad year for capitalism is better than the greatest year of socialism.

Historically, it's taken the first to achieve the latter.

Manufacturing jobs that were lost are never coming back. Not now, not ever.

Before Obama was even inauggerated, I predicted he would be a one-term wonder because the economy would still be bad in November 2012. For anyone paying attention, that was not a bold prediction.

They have to . And will. Sadly it took Obama to take the first step in taxing Chinese tires. If he keeps it up, he good for 4 more.

It should be our issue and it was when Pat Buchanan was running and called an isolationist for it.

FIRST BOOK OF GOVERNMENT .......PSALM 2009

Obama is the shepherd I did not want.
He leadeth me beside the still factories.
He restoreth my faith in the Republican party.
He guideth me in the path of unemployment for his party’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the bread line,
I shall fear no hunger for his bailouts are with me.
He has anointed my income with taxes,
My expenses runneth over.
Surely, poverty and hard living will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will live in a mortgaged home forever.

I am glad I am American,
I am glad that I am free.
But I wish I was a dog ...
And Obama was a tree

And yet, FDR kept getting re-elected every four years. The question is how many people would bite the government that feeds them. The more government-dependent we are, the less likely the Party of Handouts is to be removed from power.

Say what you want about about FDR but....
FDR stopped the banks from foreclosing on homes, gave the homeowners breathing room until things improved. People had more equity in their homes then. Banks were more prudent then and could weather the wait for some payment defaults.
Social Security was a winner back then and still today many people live and depend on it. At one time SS had oodles of money. Too many remember just that and still today blindly vote Democrat.

IMO there are more winners in this country than losers, and if you can get them out to vote, we can throw the Democrats and Rinos out.

Coins and the Economy: Just got off the phone with a friend who was touring the Denver mint.

Report: The mint is shut down and not making coins. Why??? Across the USA, people are raiding their piggy banks…. Out of circulation coins are returning in such large amounts, no new coins need to be minted!!!!
