ABC News reporter Terry Moran caused quite a commotion tonight on Twitter following after writing: "Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a "jackass" for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential."
Although it wasn't long before Moran removed it, with over a million followers, the tweet quickly bounced around Twitter through various users.
Now, an ABC spokesperson explains to POLITICO what happened:

Exactly....every year MTV has some sort of manufactured “outrage” at the VMAs....you can bet on it

“The President of the United States is supposed to have some dignity.”
I guess if you know you have a reporter around - agreed. Trouble is these reporters and whoever are so ingrained with the president perhaps he just “feels comfortable” with them around. And with Twitter and whatever else the blurted out words travel REAL fast.
If it was Obama and his drinking buddies or advisors, I don’t have a problem with it. But he sure seems like he feels the need to make a public pronouncement on thinks that he should keep his nose out of. Hmmm - I wonder if he’ll be giving his opinion on the ACORN - prostitute videos? Probably not.....

folks, she soon took down what she wrote - I don't believe he said it no. 1 and if he did - good grief folks, it's not presidential to comment on such things -

Proof that Obama actually said this. Some no-name blogger says this without any context and everyone believes it’s true. I never thought FR was this gullible.

Crap, I agree with Obama on this one. Does that make me dirty? No. He diverted attention from Kanye being clearly identified as a racist. He did him a favor.

I wish 0bama paid as much attention to the American people as he does MTV and celebrities.
those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview.
Nothing the President of the United States says should ever be off the record.

ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview. This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again." Are they saying Obama said it "off-the-record" and are apologizing for publicizing an off-the-record comment? Obama can't go on-the-record criticizing an egomaniac that wants to make everything drawing attention to himself?

These kinds of flubs are bound to occur at an accelerated rate, due to the ongoing (and nearing completion) corporate merger of the MSM and the White House.

Course Obama thinks Kanye is a Jackass. Ludacris is Obama's boy.

I would expect that the POTUS would have more important things to do than even acknowledge some prominent crackhead culture celeb in over priced shades.
He displayed the language skills of a kid younger than age 5. Why would anyone take him seriously?
Staged? Maybe. Entertainment people thrive on scandals.

While I do not hold either MTV or this President in high esteem, he definitely hit the target on this one. West has most certainly lost his marbles and should apologize to Ms. Swift for his incorrigible and churlish behavior.
