Is your baby racist [Newsweek]

At the Children's Research Lab at the University of Texas, a database is kept on thousands of families in the Austin area who have volunteered to be available for scholarly research. In 2006 Birgitte Vittrup recruited from the database about a hundred families, all of whom were Caucasian with a child 5 to 7 years old.

The goal of Vittrup's study was to learn if typical children's videos with multicultural storylines have any beneficial effect on children's racial attitudes. Her first step was to give the children a Racial Attitude Measure, which asked such questions as:

How many White people are nice? (Almost all) (A lot) (Some) (Not many) (None)

How many Black people are nice? (Almost all) (A lot) (Some) (Not many) (None)

During the test, the descriptive adjective "nice" was replaced with more than 20 other adjectives, like "dishonest," "pretty," "curious," and "snobby."

Actually children, even young children are not oblivious to skin color. My black 1 and 1/2 year old used to point at other black children running around the playground and call them “Annies” which was her name.

“The term “racism” is a Marxist invention. “

Worth repeating.

Why do we let the left make the game rules?

Not surprising; kids are very consious of differences. Its what they are taught to make of those differences that shapes them. Present overly race consious school programs tend to make kids think racially.

Great post!

>> Is Your Baby Racist? Exploring The Roots of Discrimination.

That’s one loaded title.

Beautiful baby, but why feature a Caucasian? Could they not find a beautiful black child? Perhaps Newsweek’s discriminating.

How stupid can you get? I’m willing to bet that most if not all kids don’t even see color. They just see who they want to play with......

LOL, that reminds me---when my girls were little they used to refer to kids by what they were wearing. One day they told me we should have another baby--a "yellow baby" because they had been playing with a baby in a yellow sleeper.

Sometimes they'd say "Mom, look at that little black girl" or "little white boy", but it was only in relation to their clothing. More often than not, it was "that purple girl" or the "green boy".

This absolutely disgust me - especially since my FORMER best friend just told me this week that since I’m not in love with the Chosen One that it has made her realize that I hate black people....I was floored....then I just emailed her back and told her to never, ever contact me again (after a 33-year friendship) either by email or phone as I have absolutely nothing to say to her.....I am furious!!! To think that this woman as been a republican/conservative in the 33 years I’ve known her and now because she’s drank the KoolAid then I’m a racist because I can’t stand this POS....

Just another example of what obsessive racists these leftists are. They absolutely refuse to let people simply be who they are. These are the folks who brought us hyphenated-Americans, and prefer “celebrating diversity” to the glory of the American “melting pot”. If children weren’t constantly hounded about race it would never occur to them that it was an issue to be considered. I am SICK of the left chanting that I must hyphenate my American brethren. I truly judge people by the content of their character and NOT by the color of their skin as these hypocrites do.

I need more. Do you have a reference for this? I’m teaching To Kill a Mockingbird to my seniors. We are watching Scottsboro: An American Tragedy and I have to discredit the Communist Party after we are done. I have resources from the NAACP, but I would like info on the term “racist”. Thanks!

When Whites engage in favoritism toward other Whites (and therefore discrimination against non-whites), it’s called “racism”. When other groups engage in favoritism, it’s called “ethnic solidarity”. When you buy into these word games, it’s called being a useful idiot.

Well put..

Asked how many white people are mean, these children commonly answered, "Almost none." Asked how many blacks are mean, many answered, "Some," or "A lot." Even kids who attended diverse schools answered the questions this way.

Did this brilliant researcher consider the possibility that these five to seven year olds based their answers on personal experience? Kids that age are pretty honest, often embarrassingly so.

And why didn't this researcher also study the responses of races other than Caucasian? I think that's correct, but didn't read this entire article of nonsense and don't plan to read it all.

Isn’t it journalistic professionalism at it’s best when the actual study that was done used children 5 to 7 years old
for the study, yet they use a 1-2 year old photo on the cover. I am just glad that there was no attempt on the magazine’s part to impart their own slant on the study.
