CARSON CITY, Nev. The lawyer for a woman who is accusing Ben Roethlisberger of rape is prepared to ask a Nevada court to compel the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback to name all the women he has had sex with, court documents show. Reno lawyer Cal Dunlap also said that if Roethlisberger's request to waive court rules and speed up the evidence-gathering process is granted, he also should be given immediate access to the quarterback's phone records, Internet communications, and names of any women who have claimed improper sexual conduct by the two-time Super Bowl winner.

This is looking more and more like pure extortion. I can't see much reason for such a discovery request other than to embarrass Roethlisberger.
The plaintiff's lawyer had better have a good reason for this, or he ought to be sanctioned at the very least, and disciplined by the Nevada Bar.
He won't, though. The trial lawyers... sorry.. "Justice Association", take care of their own, no matter how sleazy.

Thought that kind of thing wasn’t allowed. For example, will he be allowed to use details of her undoubtedly sordid past against her?

Why not have him name the seven dwarfs instead? This seems immaterial.

Don’t you have to have some reason or proof that such a thing could have happened in order to go fishing for it?

How can his lawyer not claim this request as invalid, as it has nothing to do with the case at hand.
Can’t he take the 5th on this? You cannot be forced to incriminate yourself.

“On Thursday, Roethlisberger attorney David Cornwell distributed a “remedy request,” signed by the woman on July 6, 2009, which he said shows she sought $1.5 million for emotional distress, $1 million for damage to her reputation, and at least $374,000 in medical costs to settle the case before she filed suit.”

After a couple of weeks of the regular season, if the Steelers cannot conjure up a running game, this will be entirely a non-issue, as the defenses teeing up against him will surely bury him.

One rather imagines that big Dan has enjoyed a plethora of ladies who've flung themselves at him since he attained the age of puberty and possibly before. And he's supposed to remember their names?
Accuser's attorney is harassing America's hero in the midst of football season. Not very smart to tick off the public to this extent. Accuser will be vilified by all but the most rabid feminists and if case goes to court won't have a chance against a jury.
Go Steelers!

He should state, just like last nights game Rothelesburgher has only scored once. Your client was it. He was a virgin.
