Is this the same FDA that had reams of proof that saccharine caused cancer? I don't remember hearing them ever apologize for their mistake that ruined an entire industry. The FDA is a government agency and acts as such. They are not the end all when it comes to determining whether something is bad for you or not. They're better than what existed before them but they are still a massive bureaucracy motivated by not making mistakes and covering their butts.
You don't understand high-yield agriculture or how genetically altering plants makes that possible. You don't understand how grafting and gene splicing work otherwise you wouldn't be living your life in fear -- unless, that is, you can explain how GMO foods cause autism.
The food industry knew the FDA was full of it when they banned saccharine just like they know this fuss over GMO foods is much ado about nothing fomented by chemicalphobes, Luddites and toxic terrorists. Enjoy your fear and good luck avoiding GMO foods. You're gonna get real skinny chewing water.

Oh, good grief. Who am I going to believe...a guy like Norman Borlaug, one of the most respected and inspiring members of the scientific community, or some ignorant chemicalphobe who posts all sorts of crap science from the internet?
For a time finding fault with high-yield agriculture was fashionable among environmentalists and other scientific illiterate organizations. But the facts are not open to debate. You can take issue with Borlaug's achievements but that only puts you in company with a bunch of fools that never took the time or made the effort to learn of what they speak.
People don't give the liver enough credit for being able to do what it does. It's an amazing organ. It's even capable of learning how to metabolizing sophisticated compounds produced by pharmaceutical companies that it has never seen before.
The fearful illiterates here rant about toxins in foods ignorant to the fact that they consume toxins every day and that their liver easily clears them without harm. If they had to eat toxin free food to survive they'd starve. I've found that chemicalphobes live in fear because they never took the time to learn much about chemistry, nutrition or physiology.
Monsanto lawyers and former executives, who rode the DC revolving door from Monsanto to positions within the FDA, are the ones responsible for getting GMO foods into our markets.
Monsanto is trying hard to get all heirloom seeds out of the market and outlawed so that the only seeds available are their GM seeds.

I just looked at that bill and did a search on the word "seed". Didn't find a single mention. Either my search function is screwed up or you are mistaken in your claim.
The Heirloom seed component isn’t in that bill. Monsanto already has patent rights over any plant cross pollinated by any of their seeds, and the ability to sue any farmer who saves seeds from any Monsanto crop.

Monsanto lawyers and former execs were working for the FDA, having recently moved from their Monsanto positions to positions within the FDA, when the issues related to GM foods came before the FDA. While Canada and Europe blocked any laws favoring GM foods, our FDA, infiltrated by Monsanto executives at the time, crafted the rules relating to GM foods in the US, and now 70% of soybeans grown here are GM.
Their effort at removing heirloom seeds from the market were on a different track from this and the recent “Food Safety” bill.

Study shows genetically altered soybeans produce lower yields
A two-year study by University of Nebraska researchers showed that soybeans genetically altered to resist a popular herbicide produced lower yields than conventional soybeans. The NU Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources study showed Roundup Ready soybeans yield 6 percent less than their closest relatives and 11 percent less than high-yielding soybean varieties. That averaged to three fewer bushels per acre - or 480 fewer bushels on a 160-acre field. “This is completely contrary to the body of research done by Monsanto and independent sources,” said Scarlett Foster, director of public affairs for Monsanto.
The University of Nebraska study was a two-year project, she said, but farmers have been using Roundup Ready beans for five years. “Their satisfaction has been at a 90 percent rate,” Foster said. The institute undertook the study - funded by the Nebraska Soybean Board - when producers began asking yield-related questions about the
genetically-altered soybeans in 1997, NU agronomist and study director Roger Elmore said. Around the same time, he said, early test results from Nebraska and other universities were released, hinting at a lesser yield capacity for Roundup Ready beans.
Roundup Ready soybean seed, produced by St. Louis, Mo.-based Monsanto Co., contains a gene that allows it to resist the popular Roundup herbicide. The seed costs about $7.50 per bag more than conventional bean seed. When studies showed spraying with Roundup did not adversely affect the altered soybeans’ yield, Elmore and his
colleagues focused on the effects of the gene-insertion process.
Dryland and irrigated studies were conducted at North Platte, Clay Center, Lincoln and Concord comparing Roundup Ready varieties to related varieties and high-yielding traditional soybean varieties.
Not only are the very bad for you, but they produce less yield, they only thing they are doing is putting money in peoples pockets at the expense of the health and well being of our children. And you are right, they are in control of the FDA, it’s like having ACORN in control of the election process.
I think you skipped a step here.
Freepers are very ignorant about GMO, they think it means things like seedless watermelons, I’m talking about eating food with soil, bug genes, jelly fish genes, and so on, Agrobacterium, BT, we’re eating it, and it’s a pesticide, the plants themselves are deadly to bugs that dine on them, and we eat that food. And many of these things have proven to survive in the human gut.
And as the study above shows, it costs way more, yields less, is scientifically irresponsible, is causing grave health issues, the only benefit is somebody is getting rich by making us sick.

Bullshit. You haven’t pointed out anything except that you favor the revolving door of corporate execs and government positions that favor corporate execs, and the lawyers at CSPI pushing anti-salt and anti-soda, etc., agendas through the Government.
How did those seedless watermelons survive in the wild? I don't imagine they're very prolific.
