Monsanto lawyers and former execs were working for the FDA, having recently moved from their Monsanto positions to positions within the FDA, when the issues related to GM foods came before the FDA. While Canada and Europe blocked any laws favoring GM foods, our FDA, infiltrated by Monsanto executives at the time, crafted the rules relating to GM foods in the US, and now 70% of soybeans grown here are GM.
Their effort at removing heirloom seeds from the market were on a different track from this and the recent “Food Safety” bill.
We need more CSPI lawyers in the FDA.
