Dear Governor Sanford,
You have the chance of a lifetime. When true love emerges in a life, when a soul-mate returns that knowledge, your life has began anew. To put aside preconceptions of what you "should be" to sacrifice what you are sorely requires too hard a price.
The route seems simple. Your long time companion and wife and you are in a situation which will probably never heal. Your love for her and the children will live on. Yet your true love, Ms. Chapur, if she feels the same as you do, lies ahead.
Do this to please the world and, better yet, you and she. Move Ms. Chapur into the Governor's home, if she agrees. Go forward with a divorce. And then,
Marry her. Do everything you can to marry her.
And I'd suggest that you show the world your entire love, and your caring, as well as your humor, and marry her on the Appalachian Trail. Do so, and you will go a long way to regain the acceptance of much of the public.
"The course ofr true love never did run smooth" the bard told us. You know the truth of that. And if you don't live your truth, then you will never regain that part of you which has left, that part of you which you know so well and love so dearly.

Huh? Sanford is an idiot. He should have known he would get caught. What a fool. He should resign and so should McCain. The country and our liberty hang in the balance and this guy just wants to get laid and embarras Conservatives. Get lost Sanford.

I hope this is in jest, because, though Mark Sanford has ruined his political career, I would NEVER advocate him abandoning his wedding vows, committment means more than some misguided effort to embarass a failing politician. If his wife will have him back, I would, as am sure God, would want them to remain married!

Ah! True love, and the romantics who pursue it. Silly boy. True love is bought and paid for in the caldron of life by making sometimes painful decisions to remain true to your word and your mate. Keeping your zipper up helps but keeping your mind zippered against the vagaries of sentiment is primary.
The ability to keep one’s vows is a fundamental test of chracter and principle. The failure to do so is not ennobling and it is not romantic.
True love, indeed.
PS: Gov Sanford, if you have any sex tapes, now would be a good time to leak them to the Inquirer.
You forgot some details. What if she doesn’t want to move to the States? Why would she move into what she knows would be a media frenzy? What if she thinks of him as a good lay and not a “soul mate”?
I didn’t say anything about love, apparently that belond the other woman, in Mark Sanford’s case, however he needs to keep his word to his wife and God. <Period!

BlueStateBlues, do you understand the damage Sanford has caused by spitting on the covenant relationship that he entered into with his wife? Do you understand that he put "self" above any commitment that he made to others? Marriage is not a joke. Nor is it something to be thrown away because your hormones are in an uproar.
