August 23, 2009 An alternative cosmology that doesnt require dark energy may have the effect of putting the Milky Way near the center of the universe. Thats not the only interpretation, but it is being considered....

If our Galaxy is indeed central then that's great. But it's not necessary. God just doesn't seem to do the obvious thing, go the obvious route: a great artist doesn't do platitudes.
I suppose the focus on the Milky Way is to get around the problem of the Earth not even being in the center of our own galaxy, but the problem the Creationists don't account for is the Milky Way isn't even the center of the local cluster.
So you lunatics are returning gradually to geocentrism? You should have burned Galileo when you had the chance.
Not at all. The crap that spews from the creation rationalization sites is strictly for entertainment only. Just stay out of science classes.
Hey—how do Catholics feel about this?
>>>> Everything about our solar system and our place in the galaxy/universe is to provide a habitable observation platform for humans. <<<<<
Ha. You wouldn’t be quite so sanguine if your were the ruler of the Phasian Klingovians living on Alpha Centauri!
Nothing about this says anything about Evolution. I understand how this might make creations “feel” better in some sense, but I don’t think anyone who believes in evolution is going to be bothered with this, evolutionarily speaking.
Or...two objects traveling near the speed of light in opposite directions (Diversion speed in excess of the speed of light), will not allow light from one to be seen from the other?
Thank you.
But how do you know that you are you when you are there?
To dispute this would be blasphemy!
Hah, where's Copernicus when you need him?
Answer, motion does not affect the speed of light. However, it would affect your perception of the light. It is called the Doppler effect.
>>>> The issue is the inertial reference. The velocity of light is constant and absolute, but not relative to everything else. <<<<
In other words, “How Can You Be in Two Places at Once When You’re Not Anywhere at All.”
Actually, it’s the lunatic Temple of Darwin fanatics who are now flirting with a cosmic center. Of course, the creation cosmologists have been saying that the evidence points to a cosmic center, with the Milky Way at or near its center, for years. But your lunatic Temple of Darwin co-religionists closed their minds to the obvious and posited unobserved occult forces such as dark energy instead, because a privileged place for our galaxy went against their evo-religion.
“Since the universe is non-Euclidian it has no center.”
Wrong! Since the Old Testament says NOTHING about non-Euclidean geometries, Riemannian geometries, Hillbert space, wormholes, or any topological anomalies anywhere in the Universe, we are simply forbidden to discuss them. If we do we’ll be burned at the stake by the editorial board of Answers in Genesis.
See? Just like it says in Genesis! The End.
“at or near”
everybody knows this is nowhere.
I can only speak to how I feel about this as a Catholic. Genesis described creation for a scientifically ignorant audience and was to answer the social question of how and why.
I believe God created the Universe and all that is in it in spectacular fashion. I do not know how long one of God's days are, but we could still be in the 6th day of creation as he molds us into his image. We are intelligent and creative souls with a thirst for knowledge. If our perfect God accurately anticipated the efforts and ends we would go to understand all that we can, he has anticipated our exploration and provided for our thirst.
I do not believe humans will ever find the answer to the question, "Where did matter originate that once started the cosmic chaos?" I believe God has built in a limit to our knowledge in order to always provide us with the opportunity to have faith.
More like: on a cosmological scale, the notion of “center” is either meaningless or misunderstood. Too often we fail to recognize ours is a very very small and narrow existence and perception thereof.
Good thing the snitch-mail is gone from the White House, or the Black Helicopters™ would be circling you right now!
