Think was it would be like if it was hospitals closing down... and doctors going out of business.
If you think that this is good, wait until you see Health care....OMG....
I remember a story from last year about how some Katrina “victims” still living in a hotel (at taxpayer expense) were complaining about the quality of the hotel food (which they were not paying for)
We could, but for now the inventory at the used lots is way below normal, causing the rise in used car prices.
But.... this was all clarified yesterday by Transportation Secretary Ray “Rino” LaHood that it’s the fault of the dealers themselves for sending in the wrong forms... that and the fact that there apparently aren’t enough bureaucrats at the DOT to process the forms that aren’t wrong.
That’s right Ray, it has nothing to do with the fact that the whole program sucks!
Actually C4C has sold a lot of cars.
And its purpose is to keep Government Motors and Fiat USA alive until Nov 2012 and provide sustenance for UAW members.
So it has met its goal.
Everything else is peripheral to the main goal.
Massive programmatic failure couldn’t happen with 0bummerCare(tm), could it?
Making those cars is more damaaging to the environment than keeping the old ones going. So its definitely not an environment thing. Most of the cars sold seem to be the Japanese and Korean type. Dealers who relied on selling used cars for some profit are going to be hit hard and used car prices have risen if I am hearing correctly.
but the govt is happy.
figures.
Hellooooooo Big Pharma!
Deals with the Devil will cost your soul....
Just wait for the health care version.
Reminds me of FDR buying milk and pouring it down the sewers while children went hungry during the depression.
“I have no sympathy for car dealers who were complicit with the government in looting billions to buys cars for some at the expense of the rest of us. And destroying good machinery to boot.”
I’ve got news for you. I used to be a partner in both a BMW and a Ford dealership. I am also friends with several owners in large dealerships. Dealers were NOT FOR THIS BULL$HIT PROGRAM! It is destroying good used cars, and driving the wholesale cost of used cars through the roof. Also this rebate is like a narcotic, in that it will hurt the sale of new cars once the program ends The vast majority of dealers are conservative Republicans, and they despise Obama.
It'd be interesting if the dealers started having "clunker sales", with all running CARS trade-ins going for whatever the expected government credit would be - $4500 or $3500.
‘fear the money will be exhausted’ ???
As of yesterday, the stories released are that the $3 Billion IS exhausted! Most of those dealers are now deep in debt and having to carry a loan because customers drove new cars away and the dealers have not been paid by the Feds. Wonderful program to help out business.
I have no sympathy for car dealers who were complicit with the government in looting billions to buys cars for some at the expense of the rest of us.
Brilliant!
Yet another Obama failure.
I’m sure getting excited about Omamacare-con and then we can get the Tax and Trade-then tax some more program running at full steam, then we get to see all of those pesky small businesses go broke.
If Obama and the dem leaders play this right, they could dry up all the jobs that our Troops may have had when they returned from the wars that Obama is losing.
Yep... there be “change” in the wind.
I don’t think I have ever seen a man so unfit for a given job in my life....
Excellent...

You aren’t very bright, are you?
