I never thought I would agree with Cindy Sheehan but she actually said something that makes sense.
The Washington Examiner's Byron York says the antiwar movement that stirred up trouble during the Bush administration wasn't really an antiwar movement at all: it was an anti-Bush movement.
York shared his thesis with antiwar activist Sheehan that the antiwar movement has slipped into hibernation because President Bush left office, and she was honest enough to admit she agreed with him. She sent him the following email):
I read your column about the "anti-war" movement and I can't believe I am saying this, but I mostly agree with you.
The "anti-war" "left" was used by the Democratic Party. I like to call it the "anti-Republican War" movement.
While I agree with you about the hypocrisy of such sites as the DailyKos, I have known for a long time that the Democrats are equally responsible with the Republicans. That's why I left the party in May 2007 and that's why I ran for Congress against Nancy Pelosi in 2008.

Having said that, I have noticed the left’s quietness when it comes to BHO’s nation building.

It’s a scary thought that one could agree with that nutcase about anything.
But even a broken clock is right twice a day.
No, Cindy was not right. She is just a pathetic bit of flotsam the left used up and now expects to shut up. She is still anti-American, anti-Israel, anti-capitalism and, needless to say, anti-intelligent thought. She IS committed to her twisted world view and it matters not to her who holds office.

What “nation building” occured under GWB? Or, for that matter under any recent President?
Mutual admiration societies usually disolve when the checks stop coming.
I am convinced that she wanted McCain to win. Then she could have continued her mediawhore antics. Now she will be shuned by the ones that loved her if she protests against The One. The media can kill her in one fail swoop just as easily as they lifted her up if she goes against their messiah.
The name of the game is money. Attention, publicity, money.
For the first time in my life, I think I might actually agree with Cindy Sheehan about something. At least she’s consistent, the media and leftists pounded Bush on the war on a daily basis, now that Obama’s in office, bombings are still going on Iraq and Afhanistan, our troops are still getting killed in combat zones, GTMO is still open, indefinite detention of enemy combatants is still the rule, we’re still at War in two countries and we’re planning on sending even more troops overseas. Obama has yet to do anything that a third term Bush probably would not have done himself in the face of huge Democratic majorities in Congress.
Nothing that they gave as pretext for their anger has changed yet they(media and far left) have completely disarmed.
It just goes to show how disingenuous their “movement” was. Without the evil Bush/Cheney to fixate on, they have no voice. It’s almost worth it to have Obama in office just for the purpose of restraining the wackos long enough to keep us from cutting and running in the middle east.
You seem to have missed the transformation Iraq has undergone since Saddam was overthrown. No, it's not perfect, and Iraq still needs help -- but that was "nation-building" and for the most part it worked.
“Nation building” carries with it the implications of taking over other nations. Not freeing its people. “Nation building” is akin to the Romans expanding their empire. The only land that America asks for is enough to bury those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while freeing a country from tyranny.

Huh? You've got a mighty convenient definition there, but it's not a very convincing one -- for one thing, it bears little resemblance to the actual application of the term.
"Nation building" begins after you've torn down the old structure, which is only the first step of "freeing its people." The next step is to build new political and security structures that are both stable and accountable to the rule of law. It's what we did in Germany and Japan, for example; and it's also what we're doing in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The point is, of course, not to "add to our Empire," but rather to transform an enemy into a self-governing nation that no longer poses a threat to our security.
The alternative is letting the population live among the ruins -- which neither frees them, nor enhances our own security.

OK, then from that perspective I can agree with you. However, you need to remember we are on a Cindy Sheehan thread and their use of “nation building” is very different than yours.
There was going to be an anti-Bush movement’’ no matter what, it’s politics’’ for the RATS. Don’t be so damn stupid Spector, on second thought, go ahead and be this stupid plus 10 times. You’re old and decreptid and ain’t too much longer to entertain us, you traitorous old fart.
Also, it wasn't declared. I would prefer a declared war and gotten it over with. These undeclared wars are reminiscent of Viet Nam.
Also, the fact is Iraq didn't attack us. I don't believe GWB lied about WMDs, though.
If our elected leaders MUST send American boys to war, declare the damned thing, give them all the tools and support they need to win it, and bring them home.
I got to watch our guys being used for political football. Mostly from the left but some from the right if you didn't agree with it
