If President Obama was born in Hawaii was it while the islands yet remained a territory of the United States?
A new wrinkle in the dispute over his birth and whether he is eligible to be president under the U.S. Constitution's requirement that the president be none other than a "natural born" citizen appeared today when Obama's MySpace page confirmed his age is 52.
That would mean if he was born on the islands that now make up the state of Hawaii it would have been during the archipelago's days as a territory for the United States, the status for the islands from about 1900 until it became a state in 1959.
It also conflicts with campaign and other White House information that have discussed his 48th birthday just a few days into this month.

A Natural Born Citizen requires no legislation to be a citizen.
That I do understand
This is grasping at straws, here, guys. For cripes sake, my Myspace page says I’m 7’2” tall. I hate to give the benefit of the doubt on this matter, but sheesh! It’s a Myspace page. I could have made one saying that Obama is an 87 year old, dope smoking British nanny.
Section 1401 defines the following as people who are “citizens of the United States at birth:”
“Anyone born inside the United States
Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person's status as a citizen of the tribe
Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.
Anyone falling into these categories is considered natural-born, and is eligible to run for President or Vice President. “
Mine says I’m 99..
Pretty spry for an old codger!
;)
“Do you think John McCain was elgible?”
Yes, he was born in a military hospital, on a military base to two parents who were both U.S. citizens.
FYI: John Mccain’s parents were BOTH US citizens, able to transmit citizenship. Obama’ father was NOT American, but a Kenyan, and his mother was unable to transmit citizenship, because she had been a non-resident for too long, for her age at his birth. Now, some are even saying she was never even pregnant with him, since she has no prego pictures - that she adopted him right off the street in Mombassa, Kenya, and flew him to Hawaii!
Hmm, there is one sure fire way for this problem to go away; obama should stop spending MILLIONS of dollars hiding the truth (whatever it may be)and just release the long form BC.
I don’t know if he or isn’t a eligible. His behavior in regards to this matter make one scratch their head and “Hmmmm?”, though
someone would have asked before he even got elected to the senate.
I think this is the topic people should be discussing.
When and if the truth is found Obama is not a NBC, there are many to blame starting with congress, Channey and the SCOTUS.
The reason it will not be proved the “O” is not a NBC is because all congress and those who are suppose to vet a candidate felled due process.
Why did you add sentences that are not in the USC?
Here is a link to Sec 1401:

Copied and pasted.
Didn’t add anything.
Citizens, yes, just like an illegal alien’s child is....but not necessarilly NATURAL BORN ones. THAT requires TWO US citizen parents...as in plural.
Territories count. Ask Barry Goldwater.
It probably wasn’t even put up by him or at his request.
Why indeed?
As Nietzsche said, "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster."
Ah. That makes sense.
I’ve mistakenly quoted editorial comment as part of the story, m’self.
Yeah..
Didn’t realize it was commentary until after I posted it.
