The Silverton, Oregon, city council has censured its transgender mayor.
Mayor Stu Rasmussen admitted to wearing an open-back bathing suit, mini skirt, and high heels when he spoke before a group of children at a non-profit organization. A person attending the speech was displeased and filed a complaint.
Andrea Lafferty is with the Traditional Values Coalition. "This is a man who's dressing like a woman. He was born a man. He has male DNA. That cannot change," she believes.
Lafferty says the idea of making the appearance in front of children is an affront to parents who do not want their children exposed to deviant lifestyles. She encourages people to challenge the mayor's behavior.
Andrea Lafferty (Traditional Values Coalition) "People shouldn't be intimidated. I think it's great that people are objecting. I think it's great that they pushed the city council to vote, even if it was just to say that the man was dressed inappropriately," she notes. "He needs to behave, particularly around children. He should be kept away from kids."

Laz;
If you come on this thread with your “I’d hit it” response as usual....
I swear I will throw up. Again.
Although I will point out that the hands don't lie.
It may take an army of citizens bearing pitchforks and torches!
People actually elected this perverted psycho MAYOR? My children would not be PERMITTED to see/listen to this WHATEVER speak! Dress would not matter a bit.
If we instituted the death penalty for dealing or using cocaine, heroin and the other drugs we'd stop the selling and using in its tracks.
But, it wouldn't be politically correct.
Beeber creek??? Is that next to the hugh area of Beaver Creek??? :)
Happens a lot in NZ...right?
Time to 'nip it in the bud!
I dare say it is Eric.

And elsewhere. In NZ transgender issues get a fair bit of focus due to our large Samoan population, with their fa’afafine members.
> Time to ‘nip it in the bud!
It would be interesting to understand what “nipping it in the bud” might involve — there’s no real way of “fixing” it because apparently it’s a normal — if rare — phenomenon.
It becomes problematic when the affected people *don’t* transgender. Apparently it can get really weird and quite dangerous when they can’t or don’t.
> He is mentally ill, and the doctor who mutilated him should be in jail.
That is certainly one school-of-thought.
I know several transgendered people. One of them is a former member of Parliament — a very good MP, now retired. Before entering Parliament she was a mayor of one of our medium-sized towns.
I don’t think I’d describe any of the transgendered people I’ve met as mentally ill: they seem to function mentally in a very normal way.
IMO the medical profession needs to figure out what is happening and why and determine if it is normal or abnormal behavior, and whether or not it requires treating.
I used to believe that, of course it required treating because of course it was abnormal and an illness. Now I am not at all certain.
The only "she" in the story is the complainant. The mayor could be a "he" based on his chromosomes, or an "it" based on his amputations, but never a she.
If the mayor feels he's a '53 Ford do we have to pander to his/its whims ?
I gotta hit that for the perks, alone.
Jim, do you know any transgendered people? I do.
It would be quite wrong to describe them as “he” because, although that is what their plumbing originally said they were, they are in every other respect female.
(I do not know any transgendered people who are “male”-originally-female and I understand they are much less common)
I do not know anybody who feels that they are ‘53 Fords. I’d suspect they are even less common.
> For attention seekers, getting all this attention is will only encourage them to be more outrageous.
I gotta agree. She has just been paid in the currency that she craves. And that’s tragic.
Well I guess one can never have enough black lacey teddies!
He prefers to be called Loretta.
