On the evening of July 18, 1969, Mary Jo Kopechne died while trying to free herself from Edward M. Kennedys submerged automobile in a tidal channel on Chappaquiddick Island.
The fortieth anniversary of Miss Kopechnes death passed with scarcely a words being mentioned of it in the media. Perhaps it was not simply a matter of liberal bias. With Senator Kennedy now seriously ill, many journalists no doubt considered that it might be unseemly to bring up the subject.
But however uncomfortable it may be to recall the circumstances of Mary Jo Kopechnes death, Americans must not forget what happened to her, nor must a delicate sensibility prevent us from remembering how a powerful man and his savvy handlers were able to shield him from responsibility for his behavior towards her. Mary Jo Kopechne died because, after recklessly causing an accident, Teddy Kennedy, in his nearly unfathomable self-absorption and political ambition, failed to do what almost anyone would have done to rescue her namely, report the accident and call for emergency help. Instead, Kennedy thought only of himself and his political career.

All I can say about the NYS Assenmlby is, if they're not working they're leaving the rest of us alone.
In Leo Damore’s “Senatorial Privilege” the charge inferred was that of “Negligent Homicide”, where Senator Kennedy’s negligence directly led to the death of Mary Jo.
Kennedy, like all, will stand before Jesus Christ, a.k.a. God, to be judged.
I will go to heaven because I know Him, not because I deserve it. I hope everyone reading this will do likewise, and look into this most urgent of all matters.
I’m reading Senatorial Privilege right now. I know it’s been published for quite a while - has Ted ever addressed the book publicly?
By the way, for anyone interested, it is over 500 pp long and covers every possible detail imaginable from many different points of view.
I wonder if they could come up with some catchy name for people who demand the truth about Chappaquiddick.
That was before the internet and talk radio. Back then, if the news people said it wasn’t a story, it wasn’t a story.
We’d be the Chappakooks
I found this book in my basement several weeks ago - left behind by the former owners.
Now, thats funny.
No mystery, he had a closed trial before a friendly judge, no one knows what happened.
Unseemly hell. I say mount a giant photo of Mary Jo on the hospital wall where that lousy sonofabitch has to look at her every day for the rest of his miserable life.
Kennedy Brother #1 heroic WWII pilot.
Kennedy Brother #2 heroic commander of WWII PT Boat
Kennedy Brother #4 failed pilot of boat-like Oldsmobile Delmont
It has been quite a few years since I read the book but I got the impression that the locals were not necessarily supporting the Kennedys as much as in over their heads and maybe afraid of them.
Got my “Dead Kennedys” t-shirt hanging in the closet ready for the blessed event.
Got my 'Shed No Tears For Ted' Op-Ed all ready to go.
Promises! Promises! *S*
The contempt I feel for this human scum is unfathomable!
And, I have met and spent (unfortunate) time, in Washington, with this cretin.
I’m sorry to say it’s true. He’s also giving it to a couple of fags and a lesbo.
Welcome to the socialist states of America.
“And, I have met and spent (unfortunate) time, in Washington, with this cretin.”
My condolences. My father, Master Chief DuntNo, 27 yrs in the Navy, was a huge Jack Kennedy fan - met him - but hated this scumbag Ted (or that melon headed little pipsqueak), even before Chappaquiddick. He once said that he thought Ted looked like the little bstrd that would steal candy from a baby...not because he wanted it but so he could blame it on someone else to watch them get punished for it.
After Mary Jo was killed, he wouldn’t even talk about him...at all...I think he resented what he did to the name so much he couldn’t even think about him...
Kennedy needs to be subjected to the health care legislative council on whether he should live or die.
Every time a Republican steps down for some scandal, I think about how revered Ted Kennedy is among Democrats, and by some Republicans.
Yes it is and also there was a site hard-talk.com that had a load of stuff on the Swimmer, but it is gone too.
Oh, to have such clout in the political world, even when you're a murderer!!!
Just checked & alot of Yahoo urls I had to saved pics of the SWIMMER, are gone too. Tubby gets his way, as do most RATS!
