Also keeping reservations last night at the white-tablecloth eatery were former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, who served eight years in President Bush's cabinet before becoming a fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation, and singer, songwriter and producer John Rich.

Why is nagin still lobbying for recovery money 4 years after Katrina while no one from Mississippi or Alabama is doing the same? Guess he hasn’t gotten enough yet.

Why this is nothing new. Lobbyists own Washington, according to many. And politicians theoretically sit on their laps.

Ray’s keeping ahead of the Bama. He’s hob-nobbing with a bunch or Republicans, and Obama’s slumming it with beer, a Professor and a Cop.

Yes, Nagin in a Democrat, but if you were to look at the last election results, you would find that he got re-elected not simply on the votes of blacks but also of conservative whites.

White Liberals voted for Mitch Landrieu and conservatives voted for Nagin..

I dont hold that against him. He isnt going to eat at McDonalds while he is in town.

There are plenty of other things to get on Nagin about besides where he eats dinner.

By the way who picked up the tab.?

Doesn’t matter who voted for him, point is he actually got re-elected after his piss poor performance or lack of performance regarding katrina..........never ceases to amaze me how these incompetents continually get re-elected, I live in a state where kerry, kennedy and barney fwank get re-elected time after time after time, no matter what they do, they are guaranteed re-election, just astounds me.

Yes, Nagin in a Democrat,

Nagin has been around the block a time or two. He was a Republican until he switched to the democrats when he ran for Mayor in 2002. He endorsed Jindal over Blanco in the governors runoff.

Same here brother. Whenever I see an FR thread beginning “ contact your Reps - “ I just roll my eyes at the thought.

Absent that hurricane, Nagin was already on track to being one of the best Mayors the city ever had... but that one incident he couldn’t get a handle on, and it reduced him to a sad caricature responsible for an untold number of deaths. How he and Blanco dealt with it vs. Haley Barbour was a real study in contrasts.
