Our health care system must be reformed and this is as an historic opportunity to achieve the changes that Americans need, now more than ever. The health care industry accounts for nearly one-sixth of our economy and affects every American family and household budget. As Americans, we are fortunate to have the highest quality of health care, one that draws patients from around the world who seek the best medical care. And while we can all agree on the need for reform, its not the quality of care that needs to change but rather the cost.
Health care reform must focus on implementing fundamental changes that will reduce escalating costs while increasing access to affordable coverage and innovative care. Further, we need to revise the federal tax system to allow families access to more flexible and affordable coverage options regardless of where you work or where you live. We also must address medical malpractice insurance, similar to what the State of California implemented, to protect health care providers from unlimited frivolous lawsuits.
Unfortunately the legislation moving through Congress now accomplishes none of these goals. Current legislation would cost $1.5 trillion dollars, puts the government in control of our countrys entire health care system, and leaves millions without coverage. Further, this plan will harm the driving engine of our economy small business. Employer mandates and new health care taxes will lead to increased job loss and further damage to our economy.
Every day that goes by without reform leads to another day where millions of Americans will become or remain uninsured. The American people would have much more confidence in this effort if both Republicans and Democrats were working together to enact meaningful health care reform that benefits everyone while doing no harm. That is the reform I will continue to fight to enact.
Senator John McCain is the senior Senator from Arizona.

My 13th post for McAmnesty:
“Go retire on the beer billions and play shuffleboard in Scottsdale with you wife.”
I'll contribute to the campaign.....
Anybody but McCain.
your wife (apologies)
what a doooooshbag. this thing needs the trash heap, not reform.
What exactly does this guy believe in? I know he’s a patriot, but I also think he really wants to be liked. At the end of the day, he can do everything he can to ‘be liked’ by the left, but as long as it says (R) after his name, and unless he buys into their overall ideology, he will never earn their allegiance. Why he would even try is unclear.
Once more, with feeling:
Go to bed, old man.
Go away you pathetic old fraud, before you entirely expend all the good will you earned in the Hanoi Hilton.
That good will evaporated when he turned his back on the Vietnam era POWs, along with John Kerry, in 1992.
He has not been a patriot since. How ironic that his campaign slogan was "Country First!"--only the VP on his ticket believed that.
The proof was how McLoser would not fight Obama head on, KNOWING the danger Obama was to the country.
Are we sure his first name is John and not Judas.
God, I hate this putz.
Yeah. We get all these posts here pining for him and blaming us that he wasn’t elected.
I have to admit that I am very glad that McCain lost, even though I foolishly voted for him (actually, I voted for Sarah, but this person was also on the ticket). I just have to chalk up to lessons learned. I will NEVER support another RINO again.
Remember, it was John McCain who told us that we had nothing to fear from an Obama presidency.
Per an email I just received from KFYI Phoenix:
Senator John McCain will be taking your calls about health care tomorrow (WED) at 8 a.m. on the Barry Young Show.

Snake.
Viper.
Sell out.
McCain is a Soros tool.
It will never occur to McCain that there is any problem -- real or imagined -- that government cannot (and should not) solve.
If granma's cake isn't moist enough, McCain will "fight" for legislation (and all the appropriate regulation) to insure a moist cake in every kitchen.
It's all he knows...
He had a chance to be the worst Republican president. Ever.
Instead, we got the worst Democrat president. Ever.
