The conspiracy theorists who have claimed for more than a year that President Obama is not a United States citizen have found receptive ears among some mainstream media figures in recent weeks.
Despite ample evidence to the contrary, the countrys most popular talk radio host, Rush Limbaugh, told his listeners on Tuesday that Mr. Obama has yet to have to prove that hes a citizen. Lou Dobbs of CNN said that Mr. Obama should do more to dispel the claims. Larry King, also of CNN, asked guests about it. Chris Matthews debated it with guests on MSNBC, and NBC Nightly News even did a segment debunking the theory.
Cable news is often stretched for news in the summer, but the birth certificate case has been fueled by the combustible combination of luck, compelling video, media-savvy doubters and an outlandish topic.
The theory that Mr. Obama was born in Kenya, his fathers homeland, first took root among some staunchly conservative elements. In response, the Obama campaign scanned the candidates certification of live birth from Hawaiis department of health and published it on the Internet. Numerous third parties have examined and confirmed the birth certificate and concluded that it met the requirements for citizenship.
This smear was thoroughly debunked during the election, said Eric Burns, the president of Media Matters for America, a liberal media monitoring organization.
But advocates of the issue, who are sometimes termed birthers, called attention to themselves through frequent calls to talk radio shows, e-mail messages to news organizations and a videotaped question at a Congressional town hall.

The NYT of course knows exactly what it is doing here.
I am not an active participant in the BC issue, but it has already revealed:
1) the CBS conspiracy of Joe Klein (destruction claim of Hawaiian docs in 2001),
2) things like this deceitful "citizen" statement in the NYT,
3) cover up of other BO lifetime records, e.g. college records.
All of which reveal the terrible fraud perpetrated by the political elite (read conspiracy) on the American taxpayer. Like the Sarah Palin hits. The BC issue is worth pursuing for many reasons.

BTW, I took your suggestion to visit the State Department site and found this little gem..."A certified birth certificate has a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrarâs signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office, which must be within 1 year of your birth. Please note, some short (abstract) versions of birth certificates may not be acceptable for passport purposes"
The Certificate of Live Birth that I've seen doesn't have a raised seal. A document that's not good enough to obtain a passport is supposed to put this matter to rest?

Brian..your paper is irrelevent to thinking people who love America!
He would not be impeached.
If Barack Hussein Obama II is inelegible to be President, then his election is void as he would be a usurper. Because the election was void, a new election would be held with candidates verifying their elegibility per the U.S.Constitution. There is precedence for this in our history.
In the 19th century two foreign nationals were elected to the U.S.Senate. Those elections were voided, struck from the records as though never having taken place. A new election for both Senate seats was conducted, this time by candidates who proved they met the elegibility requirements as per the U.S.Constitution.
Any officials in the U.S.Congress and Senate may find themselves facing impeachment if they knowingly aided and abetted the election of a usurper. That would be fun!!
The new excuse that Obama's Birth Certificate was destroyed in 2001 when the state went paperless also seems to directly contradict an article in the Honolulu Adviser from Nov 1, 2008 which contains statement's made by Hawaii's Director of the Department of Health stating they have seen and confirmed the existence of Obama's original vault copy birth certificate.
Dr. Chiyome Fukino said today she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate. - factcheck.org
The evidence seems to suggest this story is anything, but "dead".

“Cable news is often stretched for news in the summer,”
Ha ha ha. Not with this administration in power.
bump!
“Despite ample evidence to the contrary”
Come on NY Slime, cough up that ample evidence and please, no Wikepedia or snopes. Use your imagination. Oh, that’s right, you have been.
No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.
(Emphasis added.)
In those days, people took the Constitution seriously.
Don’t have an opinion on this, haven’t researched it at all. I don’t think even if it were true he’d be removed.
Whether it’s true or not, I do favor further talk of this. Consider it payback for all the trumped up stories they ran against conservatives and Republicans that time had to be wasted defending against. If there’s really anything to it, good luck with this. If not, at least they commit their precious resources to fighting it.
Of course, I also want to see Obama's 1961 long form birth certificate.
1. Before you quickly remind me that Obama's short form birth certificate is already on the internet, let me say that I don't trust any document on the internet that has first passed through the Obama camp.
2. That is, I want to see an Obama short form birth certificate that has been released ONLY from the Hawaii government directly to the public, and that, more importantly, has NOT been touched by anyone in the Obama camp.
3. My point is this: Why can't Hawaii officials release Obama's short form birth certificate, because it seems to me that Obama lost his right to privacy when he displayed his short form on his official site.
4. That is, Because Obama has already displayed his short form birth certificate on his official site, I say that Hawaii can release Obama's short form birth certificate without asking Obama for permission.
5. So, I want to see Obama's short form birth certificate, but I only want to see a copy that is released DIRECTLY by Hawaii to the public, not a short form birth certificate that comes out of the Obama camp.
6. I want to see Obama's short form because for some reason, I suspect that the short form that comes directly from Hawaii to the public will look different from the short form that came from the Obama camp and that we saw on the internet during the presidential campaign.
me,as much as i’d like there to be something, the consequences should the dems fight to keep him in could be catastrophic for our nation, This dogs not sure he wants to catch that car.
There is,as you note severally, some serious smoke out there in the forest. remains to be seen exactly how big the fire is.
If he was spawned in an unnatural experiment or ritual, there could be problems.
Dear Reporter.......Look at a “CERTIFICATION of Live Birth”.....then look at a “CERTFICATE of LIVE BIRTH”......HUGE DIFFERENCE in the FORM!! GO LOOK!
