The announcements of Barack Obama's birth printed by two Hawaii newspapers in 1961 do not provide solid proof of a birth in the Aloha State because of uncertainties over the policies and procedures that apparently were being used at the time.
The Honolulu Star-Bulletin, for example, according to its website, now reprints birth information it receives from Hawaii's Department of Health.
"We don't have an editor who handles birth and marriage announcements; we print what we receive from the Department of Health Vital Statistics System," a Star-Bulletin newsroom operator explained to WND.
The operator said, "This is how we've always done it."
The newspaper's "proof" of birth, therefore, could be based on a state-issued "Certification of Live Birth" which, as WND has reported is insufficient alone, even for some State Department officials, to document the birthplace.
Many people remain unaware a child does not even have to be born in Hawaii to receive a Certification of Live Birth, the very "evidence" the White House has cited in defending its assertion Obama was born in Hawaii.

Ah, there it is. But it turns out that that's correct.
So what is that in the backyard? A personal Mosque? lol
There is the City and County of Honolulu. Oahu is the island.
I'm posting on a forum at my local paper. Boy, there are some nasty people there that hate Free Republic!
That's the vital records form number.
These announcements were phoned in from parents or family members ALL OF THE TIME.
Once again....OLD NEWS.
Obama does not have a 2007 Certification of Live Birth. What’s posted on the Internet are fabricated fakes.
My grandmother has phoned in dozens of these birth announcements and I don’t believe the local paper has ever demanded proof that she was telling the truth.
Actually, if someone has a few bucks they wish to waste, they should send their own birth announcement to a paper just to show how easy it is to do.
EXACTLY! Thanks for the info.
Honolulu was a city among others including Waihiwa, Pearl City, Waialua. The County of Oahu included all of the archipelago except Hawaii, Maui Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Niihau up to and including Midway. Since it has become a State, the Democrats have screwed up everything.I can assure you that in the mid 50s when I lived in Hawaii,
Can’t be.
A short form and a long form would have different numbers, wouldn’t they?
Thanks again.
I am going to print it and get back to you.
According to numerous sources, the consolidated City and County of Honolulu was established in 1907.
Did you live in Hawaii in the 50s ?
I'm hearing this more and more, especially from non-political types who tend to want to steer clear of controversial issues. Surprisingly, a good number of Obama supporters are coming to the same uncomfortable conclusion. It's a matter of simple logic.
It's a real problem for Obama, and I think that's why we're seeing this sudden, in-concert pushback from mainstream media, when standing orders previously were to ignore it.
You *can* amend your birth record so the COLB printout will be changed. The underyling “birth certificate” is there is one would not itself be “changed” necessarily. The amendments would be added to the record, but the original information would still be there.
I lived in Hawaii in the 60’s...see bc at post 123 line 7b for county -Honolulu. My first excursion into civics/politics (not even a teenager yet)had me writing & rooting for Dan Inouye (d) over Ben Dillingham (r)-1962
Perhaps his grandparents wanted a record of his birth.
Maybe you should contact Honolulu County and tell them that when they say on their website that "The County of Oahu began operating on July 1, 1905, and two years later was renamed the City and County of Honolulu" that they're completely wrong. What do they know, huh?
Then it’s a Census code for Hawaii.
I thought we were looking at births...
