Episcopal Church officials voted yesterday to allow bishops the latitude to bless same-sex unions -- the second vote this week in favor of gay rights and one that may further divide the worldwide Anglican community.
On the last day of the church's triennial national convention in Anaheim, Calif., officials stopped short of creating liturgical rites to bless same-sex unions, but approved a compromise measure that allows bishops, especially in states where same-sex unions are legal, to bless the relationships. The key portion of the legislation says bishops "may provide generous pastoral response" for such unions.
The vote came three days after the church passed a resolution allowing for the ordination of gay bishops. Both moves have prompted strong reactions among the larger worldwide Anglican Church, of which the Episcopal Church is a part.
Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, the preeminent Anglican clergyman, had asked the Episcopalians before the convention not to take up issues that would further divide the church. This week, the influential bishop of Durham, England, wrote an essay describing the ongoing crisis as "a slow-moving train crash" and the most recent actions of the Episcopal Church as marking "a clear break with the rest of the Anglican Communion."
Meanwhile, gay rights advocates said this week's victories lay the groundwork for future moves.

The Episcopal Church: Laying the groundwork for future moves.
Few things are more clear in the bible than that homosexuality is immoral, unnatural, and blatantly sinful behavior regarded as an abomination by god.
There are a lot of things that can be interrupted many different ways from reading the bible, but homosexuality is not one of them.
It is never enough. No matter what you do to appease these people (or any grievance group), it is never enough.
Gay unions are perfectly compatible with evolution.
“I dont understand how any Christian denomination could condone homosexuality.”
I’m not so sure they’re a “Christian Denomination” anymore!
You’re the expert...
Why these jackwads pretend to be Christian is beyond me.
Do they intend to replace chrism with Preparation H?
Well, thank you. Now that you agree, that gay unions are perfectly compatible with evolution, would you care to address your ad nauseam repetition of "evolution is perfectly compatible with Christianity," combined with your odd contention that all Episcopalians are Christian?

Another group that has fallen of the path to the Kingdom..
Cheers!
Didn’t they fudge a bit, packing all of this into an edict from a so-called church?
Yes, if they'd all just run off and disappear with some little Episcopalian poof, the world would be a better place, lol.
Oh no, you've got it bass-ackwards. The building confers salvation upon those who congregate within. < /sarc >
Gay unions in the church must be acceptable. Only when most of the flock either leaves or splits off will I believe otherwise.
I wouldn’t attend a church one day after an edict like this.
Past, present or future, God exists outside of time, and modernity is meaningless to Him. His truth is therefore unchanging, and those who seek to make accomodations that undermine or negate His truth are not of Him or of Christ. Ergo, despite the buildings, despite the rituals, despite the misperceived sense of cultural belonging, they are not Christian.
It’s that simple.
Uh, I've got news for you, "Miss" Knox. The Episcopal Church already has been torn apart and is dying off rapidly. Soon only a few thousand secular leftists and a bunch of building will remain.
Actually, this has been happening for years. The Anglican Church broke off and there are fewer Episcopalians today.
The church voted for liberalization of their parishes and traditions, and the members voted with their feet.
You find it odd that all Episcopalians are Christians? I find that odd..
