Is Obama’s presidency threatened? [Birth Certificate]
The Delhi Statesman ^ | July 18, 2009 | Rajinder Puri

Posted on 07/18/2009 2:47:14 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Even while US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pursues her five-day visit to India, an event has occurred in the USA that could conceivably snowball into a major controversy to cut short President Obama’s tenure. Article 2, Section 1 of the US Constitution states: “No person except a US born citizen… shall be eligible to the office of President.”

During the last US campaign a controversy arose about Obama’s birthplace. Critics were unsure if he was born in the USA or Kenya. Obama’s campaign committee released a Hawaiian birth certificate on 13 June, 2008. Sceptics alleged that it had signs of forgery.

Obama maintained he was born in Hawaii. One hospital, Honolulu ‘s Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women and Children, claims it received a letter from the President declaring his birth there. But White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs refused to authenticate the letter. For nearly six months the hospital proudly declared Obama was born at its facility to create poll hype. Later it covered up and refused to confirm if the letter actually existed. The letter was purportedly signed by Barak Obama. If the signature was forged it was a most serious offence. Was any action taken against the Hospital?

This week the controversy about Obama’s birthplace resurfaced dramatically. A US Army Reserve, Major Stefan Frederick Cook, scheduled for deployment to Afghanistan, refused to serve claiming that the order was illegal because the American President was not legitimate. He argued that he should not be required to serve under a President who has not proven his eligibility for office. “As an officer in the armed forces of the United States, it is my duty to gain clarification on any order we may believe illegal. With that said, if President Obama is found not to be a ‘natural-born citizen,’ he is not eligible to be commander-in-chief,” Major Cook said. “Then any order coming out of the presidency or his chain of command is illegal. Should I deploy, I would essentially be following an illegal order. If I happened to be captured by the enemy in a foreign land, I would not be privy to the Geneva Convention protections.”

The military created shock waves by revoking the deployment order without giving any reasons. Thereby it evaded a reply to Major Cook’s objection and implicitly acknowledged that it could offer no proof of President Obama’s birth in the USA. If the military cannot vouch for President Obama’s legitimacy the implications can be very far-reaching. Major Cook’s case is being heard in the court of US District Judge David O Carter. The judge told the plaintiffs to fix their paperwork and that he would listen to “the merits” of their case. The date of the hearing was fixed for 16 July.

It is unlikely that the US mainstream media will highlight the event. But regardless of the judge’s verdict, will the issue die? If it snowballs into a crisis America could face a cruel choice. While it battles a severe economic meltdown it may have to either remove a most popular President or violate its Constitution.

When are you people going to realize why the Supremes will not rule on this? When it was brought up before them before, their exact words were “plaintiff does not have standing”. This is because the Constitution only allows the ‘natural born’ determination to be contested by the Electoral College. It’s a Catch 22 situation and a flaw in the Constitution. An Electoral College whose makeup has just been determined to be biased towards the winner is not going to contest his eligibility.

Whetehr or not the USSC rules, it is important to pursue the truth and have the truth made public. The courts will do what they do. If the pressure builds enough there may be a congressional investigation now or in a couple of years. Some how, the truth will become known.

The whole BC issue is slowly gathering momentum. Just give it 12-18 months. No way is the Kenyan going to dodge this in 2012.

See my reply at 55.

I understand the frustration. America is being dismantled at an alarming rate. I am a conservative/traditionalist, and until the last couple of years have never been very politically active. It has just gotten to the point where if we want to keep our country, we have got to start fighting back. Me personally - I am just an old redneck boy who would like nothing better than to be left alone - and to leave others alone. Washington seems bound and determined not to let that happen.-—JM

"...I could almost guarantee you that the Supreme Court will never find that Obama cannot serve as President. The government would be in such turmoil (as if it weren’t already!)if a anti-president that had served as long as Obama had served and had done the things Obama has done. How would the country do a do-over? Trillions of dollars are gone. All the bankruptcies. All the looters that would be turned loose. Etc. The time to examine the problem is long gone..."

Like a cancer that invades the lymph nodes, greatly reducing the odds that the host will survive? Your words, I fear greatly, may be so much more accurate than we the People may realize.

The time may be fast approaching when the only answer left to your answer will be expressed in one word: Revolution.

Correct! Also, Obama’s camp admitted Obama had dual citizenship up until 1982. 1982 is when British/Kenyan Colony citizenship expired if one didn’t sware an oath to Kenya. How did Obama get Kenyan citizenship? Probably because he was born there.

Look, if both the democrat and republican parties chose to intentionally or blindly let this man subvert the US Constitution on just this wee technical issue, just this time- can’t “we the people” just give them a mulligan and move on?

I’m sure they will uphold all the truly important things in the Constitution...

If the BC issue turns out to be real, I know which one I'm going to choose, and I'm not taking no for an answer. The idea that EVERYONE has to obey the law goes all the way back to the twelfth century and the Magna Carta, Bill Clinton notwithstanding.

Blast it, this standing issue is beginning to torq me off. IMO, At it's most basic, all registered voters who participated in the most recent presidential election would have standing. If they do not would someone (preferably the Chief Justice) explain why they do not have standing. Thanks.

Levin and Limbaugh. They seem to be avoiding the issue too.

Any talk show host has to pick their fights very carefully because of the MSM and media matters types, but that being said What's the Difference Between God and Obama?

watched Lou Dobbs last night. They sure did a job on Keys and Taitz, This is going to be worst than the swift boat vets trying to get their word out. Nothing is going to come of the Birth certificate thing. The birth certificate is like asking Madoff to do his own book audit!

******

Face-Off: I want to comment on that 5 to 10 minute Face-Off show on CNN yesterday, Friday, July 17, 2009.

Before the host interviewed her guests, she gave a little background about the Obama eligibility issue.

1. As the host read about what people wrote about Obama's eligibility issue, I wanted to get up and shout something like this:

"People, don't you get it? There is more to Obama's eligibility issue than that he was or was not born in Hawaii.

" There is the more serious question of whether or not Obama has been lying about his background all these years.

"Hopefully, a full examination of Obama's long form birth certificate will go a long way to help us find out if Obama is who he says he is, or if he is a fraud."

2. But I didn't shout into the tv like I wanted. I just sat there and watched the very short Face-Off. And I mean short. I think that if I had blinked, I would have missed the Face-Off segment.

3. In her background segment, the host talked about how Hawaii officials said this, and even the Governor said that. That is, the Hawaii officials verified that Obama's birth certificate was stored among Hawaii's records.

4. I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh when the host talked about the Hawaii officials, as if the Hawaii officials could be trusted absolutely, and so we must accept their word absolutely.

In other words, if we are to believe the pro-Obama people, there should be no more debate or questions concerning Obama's eligibility because Hawaii officials, even the Governor for pete's sake, said Obama's birth certificate was safely stored in the state of Hawaii's records.

5. Excuse me, I am just a lowly voter, but I am NOT taking the word of any bureaucrat---I don't care if it is the Republican Governor of Hawaii---that a document exists, because I want to see the document in person, or have someone I trust see it and touch it.

My point is that Hawaii bureaucrats don't get it: If Hawaii high-ranking officials like the Governor tell me that they have Obama's birth certificate on file, but they don't tell what is on that birth certificate, then, in reality, they are telling me nothing.

6. You see, the pro-Obama folks and Hawaii officials don't get it, or they pretend not to get it: I don't want to see Obama's long form birth certificate just so that I can see the word "Honolulu".

7. I want to see the names of the doctor and the birth hospital.

8. I want to see if Soetoro, Obama's stepfather, adopted Obama before Obama went to Indonesia as a little boy. (To me, this Soetoro situation could be Obama's 600 pound gorilla in the room, because if it is found that Obama was adopted by Soetoro, then Obama and his high-priced lawyers have a lot of explaining to do.)

9. I want to see the name of Obama's father, because if it is not Barack Obama, then Obama has been telling us a lie all this time.

10. Also, remember that Obama has posted his "birth certificate" on his fight the smears site, so if the details on the long form birth certificate are different in any way from the fight the smears birth certificate, then, again, Obama and his high-priced lawyers have a lot of explaining to do.

11. We must always remember that the Obama supporters are very clever.

12. They cleverly try to keep the focus on the city and state on the birth certificate. They argue that if the words "Honolulu" and "Hawaii" are on the birth certifcate, then that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Obama was born in Hawaii and is eligible to run for President of the United States.

13. The Obama supporters also argue that once it is VERIFIED that Obama was born in Honolulu, then it is clear sailing for Obama to easily win a second term, and so-called birthers--- a name for crazy anti-Obama people---can go into the holes that they crawled out of and go screw themselves.

14. But I say this: I want to see Obama's long form birth certificate for myself, and I am not going to take the word of any high-ranking Hawaii bureaucrat, not even the word of the Governor, that Obama's birth certificate is safely stored in Hawaii's records.

15. Again, I want to know if Soetoro, Obama's stepfather, is on the birth certificate.

16. And I want to know the names of Obama's birth doctor and birth hospital so that I can talk to the doctor, if he is still alive, and to the hospital officials to verify that Obama is who he says he is.

17. We must keep the pressure on Obama the rest of his 3 1/2 year term, because if we keep up the pressure, at some point, Obama will have to respond to the growing public outcry as to why Obama won't allow Hawaii to release his long form birth certificate and why Obama won't allow colleges Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard to release his college records.

18. This is what disturbs me about the pro-Obama people: They argue loud and clear that there is no reason for anyone to see Obama's Hawaii long form birth certificate, while, on the other hand, they meekly hand over their children's birth certificates so that their children can play Little League or high school sports.

Go figure.

We had this discussion up at work the other day. Would just being in jail be enough? After all, think of all of the classified information he has come into contact with.

I like the way this article assumes that it would be the removal of a “popular” president, if this were to happen. Except for a few “bitter clingers”, I don’t foresee numbers any higher than his namesake, which is zero.

Besides, popularity is irrelevant. This is why we have the Constitution.
