I just stubbed my toe, should I put ice or heat on it?

I see our DU friends are already complaining bitterly about how disrespectful the Freepers are being about this sad bit of news.

I need a face to go with the name. I recognize the face.

"...that God dumped the news on Friday."

Now THAT was a jolt.

I hope Walter had someone in his life who loves God and even if he could not bring himself to proclaim faith, I hope he heard the words of Christ.

RIP, ‘Walter Concrete’. That’s what I used to call him as a little girl.

Yep the History Channel or NatGeo, can’t remember which, recently had a great series on Vietnam that I was riveted to, and Cronkite was singled out by our servicemen as the key to our demise. He’s nothing to me.

I wish I could say anything good about this “man”. But I can not, so I will leave it at that.

I’m cracking open the champagne.

My chilled bottle is reserved for Castro.

Anyone who contributed to our loss in Vietnam, and the resultant lives lost because of the fraternizing with the enemies of the U.S., gets the same remark from me when they die.

It’s impossible for me to feel sad. You can take that to the “X” for me.

There are a lot of us who lived through the Vietnam War years and saw what these lying, arrogant, self-appointed liberal rulers did to our nation.

God save us from reliving the 1960s and 1970s again. They were the worst years of American history. The national thread unraveled and it was their fault.

Robert S. McNamara and Walter Cronkite were prominent in this malgovernment. Their passing will be noted but it won't be lauded by us.

We need to get rid of the elitists who are running our nation into the ground.

Despite what we can all say about his politics, the passing of Walter Chronkite represents the passing of an era in news broadcasting. Chronkite was among of group of reporters that made their names reporting news for CBS Radio from Europe during World War II, and his contemporaries in that group are legendary: Eric Severeid, Edward R. Murrow, and several others.

" Are we now obligated to declare Michael Jackson a great musician without mentioning his very questionable faults? That Cronkite was a beloved news man now obligates us to ignore his post-professional anti-American sentiments?

I am willing to acknowledge his importance in the grand scheme of American culture; can I not laugh at the irony that God dumped the news on a Friday? "

Hardly... just keep your criticism below the obscene. There is much to criticize - just do it with foul words, and we'll leave you alone (and probably agree with you.) (grin)

There were two graves I wanted to piss on, communist Cronkite and communist Fonda. Jane is still kicking and will probably out live me so I hope someone else will do it for me.

Hope you don't need it, but if so... I've got ya covered.

Everyone gets out. No one is there who did not die in a state of grace, accepting God, saying yes to God. Those who say no to God go to hell and that’s that, forever. Period. Purgatory is not about eternal destiny but about healing the wound left behind by sin, sin that God has forgiven when you repented of it—even if you repented at the very last moment. The eternal penalty is gone, washed away by the blood of Christ.

But the wound left behind by sin remains. When a man wrongs his wife by betraying his marriage vows and repents of it and she forgives him, a wound still remains. Not an eternal wound but a time-bound one. She cannot act as if nothing ever happened because it did. She truly forgives him but he has wounded himself and her, wounded their relationship. Over time he can heal that wound if he goes out of his way to make it up to her, to show her that he is truly sorry for what he did and proves it by being extra-faithful to her. Over time.

Purgatory is about time, not eternity. Those who reject God when they die go eternally to hell. Those who accept God when they die go eternally to heaven. Their route to heaven may or may not pass through purgatory.

I have no idea what Walter Cronkite said to God as he died. That’s between God and him. But whatever it was, it sealed his fate eternally, as will be the case for you and for me.

“As for Cronkite’s passing, eh, who cares!”

I do. It didn’t happen soon enough. I usually respect the dead but Commie Walter is an exception.

I wonder how Teddy is doing?
