The leading Judiciary Committee Republican is charging that Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor is "out of the mainstream" of legal thinking and has a very activist judicial profile.
Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama made the assertion just hours before Sotomayor, who would be the third woman to join the court, was to face her initial confirmation hearing.

“I dont think it matters if all the Republicans in the committee vote no, with 12 democraps against 7 Republicans”
I think they had to weight it - total up the IQ of the committee and divide by 12...they had to give the Dims five extra brains to catch up....
He’s not wishy-washy in the least ;)
She looks like she is already about to fall apart....lol.
She could, but I fully expect her broken
ankle to give her problems, which will be
propped up on a chair at times.
I think Sessions is illustrating beautifully how far from the mainstream this woman really is.
She is close to tears .. truth hurts, doesn’t it?
Oh my gosh...she looks like she’s about to burst into tears! And it’s only Jeff Sessions!
I see Mr. Communist is speaking now.
Was just watching her body language...She nodded in agreement at first, by the end she looked like she was about to break into tears....Then I saw your post.
I tell ya, all of the brains on that panel are on the pubbie side.
Kohl is dummber than a box of hammers. He never even understands what he is reading.
Did you see the huge sigh she gave after Sessions was finished? I think he shook her up a bit.
I thought she was too- but wondered if I was imagining it. She kept taking DEEP breaths whenever Sessions hit her record hard.
I just turned it on.Her face looks swollen.
Sessions just played the brilliant card w/ her record...By dems supportin her, one by one her issues can be seen as Dem issues.....
She has always lived and moved in groups where her way of thinking and acting is applauded and encouraged.
She has no clue about the other half (maybe more) of the country and disapproval must be quite uncomfortable for her.
Yet Kohl believes she reflects who we are as a country?
What rubbish!
YEEESSSSSSS!
Sessions certainly ripped her a new one. Now let the whitewash from the Dems begin.
You know he is up against the enemy, physical and spiritual...
God bless him.
He 'believes' that a Hispanic voter will go conservative if Republicans vote for a "Latina", but not if they don't? How did that work out for Miguel Estrada? His CV is practically identical to Sotomayor's.
From Wikipedia: strada was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. After his parents divorced, he immigrated to the United States to join his mother when he was 17, arriving with a limited command of English.
He graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor's degree from Columbia in 1983. He received a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree magna cum laude in 1986 from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. After law school, Estrada served as a law clerk to Judge Amalya Lyle Kearse of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He then clerked for Justice Anthony M. Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court during his first year on the Court in 1988.
