Top twelve indicators the economy is bad
12. CEO's are now playing miniature golf.
11. I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.
10. I went to buy a toaster oven and they gave me a bank.
9. Hotwheels and Matchbox car companies are now trading higher than GM in the stock market.
8. Obama met with small businesses - GE, Pfizer, Chrysler, Citigroup and GM, to discuss the Stimulus Package.
7. McDonalds is selling the 1/4 ouncer.
6 People in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and are learning their children's names.
5. The most highly-paid job is now jury duty.
4. People in Africa are donating money to Americans. Mothers in Ethiopia are telling their kids, "finish your plate; do you know how many kids are starving in America?"
3. Motel Six won't leave the lights on.
2. The Mafia is laying off judges.
And my most favorite indicator of all:
1. If the bank returns your check marked as "insufficient funds," you have to call them and ask if they meant you or them.
So, who IS getting the $? It’s going somewhere. Thanks for the humor break!
Good.
Great Stuff!!!
My favorite: “I went to buy a toaster and got a bank!!”
Aint that the truth!
Great stuff....wonder when Letterman will read it on his show?
***11. I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail. ***
I know a man who several years ago got a call from Visa asking him to take out a credit card. He was financially sound and always paid his bills in cash. He decided to take the card and filled out the info sent him. He was declined because he had no credit history!
He was p!$$ed!
this is a keeper!
Um...she just forwarded the e-mail to me. There was no original author cited or attributed in the e-mail she sent to me.
I saw a Rolls Royce parked at K-Mart this morning. No kidding.
True story! The same thing happened to us, years ago. We paid cash for everything we could, bought money orders for stuff that had to go by mail, and saved up for big-ticket purchases. When we decided to get a ($1000 limit) card from our bank, we were declined for lack of credit history. LOL!
See what having an "underground" economy can do? Look at all the radar screens we flew UNDER. According to the credit companies, we "didn't exist." Man, would I like to have those days back again...
A good laugh for sure.
I believe I’m actually seeing more MSM references lately to how bad things are. Surprising, because I expected it to be sunshine, lollypops, and roses 24/7 under Baraq.
Perhaps the screed, “...worst economy since Herbert Hoover” is finally true?
You could be talking about me right there. No credit history because I’ve paid for everything and I mean EVERYTHING in cash. Doesn’t matter if it’s a crayon or a car, it’s been cash.
Every week or two I get an offer for a credit card in the mail and every time I apply and get declined. I neither want nor need a card but it’s funny how my friends’ younger brothers and sisters in college with no credit, no jobs, and no way to pay back loans get approved for credit cards ON CAMPUS. It’s not an issue of credit history. It’s an issue of knowing who they can enslave by their own inability to control spending.
Wealth doesn’t just exist; it has to be created.
whoever/wherever there is a vote to buy.
My kids got those same offers when they were college age. Credit card companies really do want to hook college kids for life.
For many freshmen, the trip to college is their first chance to be out on their own, and they're not ready for it. They end up hopelessly in debt. Some wise up and climb out, some endure for a while and then declare bankrupcy, but most CALL HOME for help. If they can, most parents will bail the kids out to keep them in school, so loaning to students is not a great risk for the credit companies.
Parents beware: tuition is only a fraction of the actual cost of education.
