Palin's Popularity in GOP Soars After Quitting
Cleveland Leader ^ | Wednesday, July 8, 2009

Posted on 07/08/2009 8:13:03 AM PDT by kristinn

Apparently Sarah Palin's decision to quit her post as Governor of Alaska wasn't as misguided as it sounded at first, because it has certainly already begun to work it's magic on winning over the Republican party. According to a new USA Today/Gallup Poll, her popularity has surged amongst Republicans since she made the announcement.

71 percent of Republicans said they would vote for Palin if she ran for president in 2012, and three-fourths believe that Palin has been treated unfairly by the media.

Two-thirds of Republicans want Palin to be "a major national political figure" in the future, while three-fourths of Democrats are hoping that she won't be. Independents by 55%-34% would prefer she leave the national stage.

So does the GOP plan on doing anything about the Sec. of St. problem in 2010? Probably not even aware of it. They are clueless.

Nan I think it is more than just elitist vs the people.

Sarah represents success:

She has successfully been a wife

She has successfully had a family

She has successfully kept her appearance up (after five kids and she still looks like THAT)

She has successfully risen to the top of whatever career choice she chooses.

She has successfully chosen God's way for her life..loving life.

She has successfully taken on corruption and won.

She has successfully out maneuvered the people who have attacked her and her family.

The left and GOB-GOP are frightened that she will SUCCESSFULLY remove them from power, that they will be left powerless and unsuccessful.

She is one POWERFUL SUCCESSFUL WOMAN!

That is the reality at the current moment. I would rather enjoy a PSYOPS effort to create a schism within the DNC and rat party. Infighting and dissention among their ranks is an exploitable advantage.

And sadly, 0bama VIA Eric Holder is making sure they can do it all over again.

Who is to say there will be a fair election even if Jesus H. Christ is running against 0bama?

The GOP need to man up the nads and come up with their own ground force (keeping all voting laws intact) and START NOW in dismantling ACORN before they change their name again. There are ways around Holder... Put Holder in a spotlight when he tries to cease any FBI investigation of ACORN (or whatever their name is today.)

If she'd been allowed to do her job, without the distraction of petty, vindictive, and frivolous lawsuits, she'd have stayed for the full four years. She got through three of them, and decided that the citizens of AK should not have to spend their hard earned tax dollars defending the office of the Governor, because she happened to be the target of the suits. She realized that she and her staff were spending over half their time doing work on these suits, as the people to filed them intended.

She was not being able to get the work done that she wanted to do, so she turned over the reins of the office to the man who was elected by the people along with Sarah to finish the work they'd started together. The things for which she was elected will be done, just not by her.

She removed herself as a professional and personal target, since, as she noted, these lawsuits didn't start until she was named the Veep candidate. They were designed to destroy her politically and financially, and she's not going to play their game. I haven't seen any poll numbers from AK, but I'd guess that the majority of citizens of that state understand, and support her decision.

Hugh Hewitt echos many of these points with this:

“She is the embodiment of the anti-choice, the opposite of every choice that lefty elites have ever made — as to going back home instead of moving to the west coast, having children, having a child with Downs, staying married to one man the whole time, choosing rural or suburban over urban and living a generally conservative lifestyle, working with her hands… That everything she is is the antithesis of everything that liberal urban elites are, so it’s not just enough to say, ‘I disagree with you,’; she has to be repudiated and crushed.”

Of course, that is why she is loved. Because that is the American way. The common man knows about succeeding with hard work and determination. She represents that “can do” spirit of America. The elitists don’t have a clue about that kind of spirit. They have been handed everything in life.

Just sayin’:

They, the left, are attempting to close every box of liberty.

And it seems that the country has “stocked up” on the final box to be reached for..

How many of the Democrat supporters voted for Obama because he “looked and dressed cool” ? Sarah is much cuter. She could capture the cuteness base with the right wardrobe. (sarc)

So true.

I'll try, for a different thread

When you are playing the other fellows game and losing you change the game. You don't play thier game until your beaten and broke. Only a fool would do that, far far wiser to say ok you won that round now we are going to play my game.

Or put in military terms, if you are under siege by a superior force, but your forces are mobile do not wait until you are completely surrounded. Find an escape route, use it, then find a field of battle were you have an advantage.

I can think of more then a few great commanders where retreat, seemly in defeat was in fact a prelude to a great victory. In fact that was one of Napoleons favorite moves, he learned it from Alexander the Great.

True. I think the Tea Parties are “telling” and those people will all let their opinions be known in the next election, win or lose.

Can't handle 4 yrs. in Alaska? Hmmm...had she not accepted McCain's offer and presented herself to the world, she very likely would have been Alaska's most popular and effective two term Governor.

During and since the election, she and her family are the targets of all sorts of lower 48 based attacks. No Governor/former VP candidate has had to deal with the level and volume of personal and vicious attacks that she has. They even burned down her church and damn near killed a few people inside it. Can't handle it? You're kidding, right? How is her staying in office and devoting time and resources to fending off the such crap helpful to her state and those who voted for her?

Staying in office would be a lot more selfish than resigning and removing the distraction she has become. If that's quitting, then it's the most selfless quitting I've seen from a politician. Sandford, Blagojevich and others should follow Palin's example.

It took me a while to get my brain around this, but the Palin resignation helped the light bulb to come on.

This is shaping up more and more to be a battle between the Elitists and the “Folks”, i.e. those who embrace traditional values, common sense, and conservative principles.

Sarah is essentially a "Jacksonian".

To understand where she is coming from I suggest you go to this link. Long read but very informative.

The Jacksonian Tradition

His reason was like lightning and his action like a thunderbolt" Amos Kendall,.

Prominent Jacksonians: Ronald Reagan, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Fred Thompson, Oliver North, Pat Buchanan, Zell Miller, Sarah Palin
