Palin's Popularity in GOP Soars After Quitting
Cleveland Leader ^ | Wednesday, July 8, 2009

Posted on 07/08/2009 8:13:03 AM PDT by kristinn

Apparently Sarah Palin's decision to quit her post as Governor of Alaska wasn't as misguided as it sounded at first, because it has certainly already begun to work it's magic on winning over the Republican party. According to a new USA Today/Gallup Poll, her popularity has surged amongst Republicans since she made the announcement.

71 percent of Republicans said they would vote for Palin if she ran for president in 2012, and three-fourths believe that Palin has been treated unfairly by the media.

Two-thirds of Republicans want Palin to be "a major national political figure" in the future, while three-fourths of Democrats are hoping that she won't be. Independents by 55%-34% would prefer she leave the national stage.

You can debate all you want whether her quitting was a good move or bad move and whether she had an obligation to stay as governor. Fact is it was a necessary battlefield move to break free to open ground or be picked to death. There are consequences to boldness, some bad, but others are possibly game changing. I’m all in.

I don’t think Sarah will start a third party BUT I do think she will turn the GOP on its head. Remember in Alaska many of the GOP establishment hate her because she kicked out the corrupt old guard and ushered in ‘libertarian style conservatism’. This is exactly what was being said about her after her election to Gov. Alaskans know she is a Reagan libertarian conservative. I just think she needs to differentiate herself from RINO’s which is not the same. RINO’s are big spending Repubs. Libertarians are definitely NOT.

How many of the Democrat supporters voted for Obama because he “looked and dressed cool” ? Sarah is much cuter. She could capture the cuteness base with the right wardrobe. (sarc)

To put it simply: a strategic move.

How did her speech make people believe she was misguided? Was it confusion or the MSM? Because many of us saw the fire in her.

If you would kindly explain the distinct differences between “resign” and “quit”, perhaps I’ll feel less like I’m watching a train wreck happening in slow motion.

You betcha! Great bumper sticker.

I predict that BHO will be as good for the Dems in '10 as BJ was for 'em in '94.

She couldn’t handle 4 years in Alaska; how will she handle for years in the White House?

I know this goes against my tagline but Palin resignation motivated by 'higher calling'.

You said it exactly right.

It took me a while to get my brain around this, but the Palin resignation helped the light bulb to come on.

This is shaping up more and more to be a battle between the Elitists and the “Folks”, i.e. those who embrace traditional values, common sense, and conservative principles.

Make no mistake, there are conservative Elitists as well as liberal ones, and the difference between them is so small as to be invisible. The division is one of elitism, not party or ideology.

But it looks like every other Washington pundit including the usually spot-on Charles K from Fox News may have misread the tea leaves.

As Rush said "he is inside the Beltway formulaic"

Agreed they are terrified of her and guess what... wheeling out Tina Faye so most nimrod Americans think she sees Russia from her window- won’t cut it. Palin will just go on SatNightLIVE AGAIN...

Palin will have the nads to publically expose the alinsky style politics the democrats were pulling on her in Alaska on a daily basis. If they are out in the open-they will lose.
