So one of Rove’s arguments is that, if you are governor, you can lie to people about why you won’t do things for them. You can just say that you have governor duties.

Nice, Karl.

a clip of Obama saying “we need to move forward, in a different direction

Reminds me of: I voted for it before I voted against it
This guy likes to hear himself speak more than John Kerry.
Who served in Viet Nam by the way.

Hah! Parnell did a nice job of telling Huckster he had no idea what he was talking about and he experienced nothing like what she had to endure.

Your post about politicians’ actions behind closed doors being quite different in public reminded me of how naive I was years ago...While serving on jury duty in a multiple murder trial, I saw opposing counsel going out to lunch together, laughing it up and patting each other on the back...a learning experience for me that taught me that it was a $$$ game to them.

Besides the Clinton disaster, I additionally heap tons of blame on peanut brain Carter, trainwreck LBJ and communist FDR for what has gone terribly wrong in the US.

Of course, in the long run, "the swimmer" had an awful lot to do with it.

Also said something like we need to stop looking for a Ronald Reagan.

Intellectually I love Newt. Politically he is inconsistent and becoming more and more irrelevant. I see Newt as the theoretical strategist and not the candidate.

Searching for Ronald Reagan is kind of a strawman argument to me. Of course we need someone new who understands and is responding to today's problems. Sarah is that person and her resignation plus her speech says to me that she gets it and has a plan.

Comparisons to Reagan can come maybe after she has been POTUS for awhile.

I had this dream last night.

MIchael Jackson was not dead. He had been abducted by the Aliens who Conduct Painful Anal Probes.

Like Elvis.

Best,

Chris

The GOP lost in ‘06 & ‘08 because people on the Right decided to “teach 'em a lesson”.

Now, we have Pelosi, Reid and Obama.

I am so glad you and LLS understand this.

They wanted to shock and they wanted to DARE us to say anything about it.

I would not have approved of a male and female behaving like that in public.

But it was just so damn obvious how it all came down and all I know it we’ve got to take a stand or else they’ll do it all the time, everywhere, every chance they get.

Huckabee was much more circumspect this morning than he was defending Palin yesterday. Maybe he just doesn’t want to lose credibility by appearing to be a Sarahbot..?

No public display of affection for heteros or homos. It has long been my insistance that this kind of public display is inappropriate and I would object if anyone did it. CHildren can tolerate as adults holding hands or pecks on the cheek but this kind of thing needs to be met with “get a room”...exhibitionistic.

“I see Newt as the theoretical strategist and not the candidate.”

Exactly how I see it. Newt knows his stuff (I think he’s brilliant) and definitely has a place, but not as president. And I’m saying that as someone who lived in his district for years and voted for him every time. He had some mighty narrow victories too!

Well this leads me into another spiel and here granddaughter is watching Spongebob Squarepants....

I watch Matt Lauer interview Jermaine Jackson. I paraphrase.

M-”What is your brother’s legacy to the world”?
J-”Love. My brother brought love to the world with his charitable contributions, his beautiful music. The world is better because of my brother.”

I’ve never watched any suckup fest like this. You watch. That Jackson family, never famous for their class and taste, are going to make this funeral into a great big circus.

For the monies that will roll in after this pervert’s death (did y’all know this King of Rock had a “secret room” where he took these boys to molest them?) are dependent upon changing the public perception of him as a pervert and a misfit.

We begun this saga by creating a grand funeral saved only for those most holy and revered.

A Princess Di kind of thing.

Heh.

Of course politicians do what politicians do. My comment was about Wallace not Hoyer. I am really tired of media types asking a question then never challenging the answer. They always seem to be focused on their next question instead of holding public servants accountable.

She'll need lots of help.

Most assuredly.

Don't get me wrong Sarah is far from a finished ready to go candidate by any means.

She still has a long way to go. Travel abroad, and many other things will help round her out. But she has the basics that we all admire and respect and that a great starting point.
