I am so glad you and LLS understand this.

They wanted to shock and they wanted to DARE us to say anything about it.

I would not have approved of a male and female behaving like that in public.

But it was just so damn obvious how it all came down and all I know it we’ve got to take a stand or else they’ll do it all the time, everywhere, every chance they get.

Your stand should be to treat them just like you would any one else acting badly in public or in your home. Tell them that they must act properly, as you demand any one do when a guest in your home... take away the “gay” cover and accuse them of acting like trash amongst normal adults. Tell them you do not care if they are gay... tell them you do not care if they are hetero... tell them you care if they act like barnyard animals in front of children. They hold no special place in society... they are just like the rest of us and must conform to societal norms and show respect for hosts during their attendance at an invited event. Tell them there is a time and a place for everything... and your home and party is not that time and place.

My nephew is gay, and has a long-term relationship with a very nice man.

They come to all of the family functions. No problems, as they do not do any demonstrative behavior so as far as the grandkids know, they are just good friends.

I appreciate this, and have no problem with them. In fact, they are always welcome in my home because they are funny and always bring great wine and fancy home made baked goods.

I am balancing a fine line here between my faith and my family, since this is my sister's son and we all love him. I pray for some sort of solution while welcoming them as cherished people.

This is how I think situations like this should be handled. I don't know what I would do in a situation like you were faced with. Very unfortunate, and dare I say...TACKY?
