Could Sarah's move mean the beginning of a Conservative third party?
Very well said and it also gave us Franken in the Senate.
If Walberg was a RINO, I would understand it. Walberg though was no RINO. He was one of the best representatives I've ever had.
If Walberg isn't good enough for the disgruntled, who is?
Sadly true. "Neocon" was once a useful word as coined by Jean Kirkpatrick meaning new converted conservative, as was she. As was Reagan. As am I, --raised a Dem until I saw the light.
And Schauer in Congress. See post 122.
Yep. It’s not the “new” conservative anymore. The word is now code for “evil jew controlled right wing zionist”. Make no bones about it, when somebody says neo-con they are meaning it as an insult, a racial epithet or worse.
*Thanks to 3rd party votes, I’m stuck with a democrat representing me instead of Tim Walberg. Walberg was a true blue conservative*
That is beyond ugly. The third party loons are like a spoild 8 yr. old child who throws a tantrum.
The Conservative Republicans lose while picking up the pieces of the spoild child.
There is no pleasing the Disgruntled-cons....
That is irrelevant.
Not really, it is directly germane to the issue as there has to be a level of popularity and appeal to be able to get into the position to have the influence... your complaint seems to imply that there is something wrong with the popularity of Palin, therefore, if you understand the purpose is victory, you must have a better option.. that, or you are just making a drive by comment.
WhinoCons...
I am with you 100%. Same thing happened with Steve Largent who lost by around 5,000 votes. The Indy Richards who happened to be Gov Keating’s old law partner got in the race as an Indy promising free tuition, free everything and took enough votes from Largent to give us Henry for 8 years because four years later the Mormon Istook ran and got beat almost 2-1.
Will never understand 3rd party candidates that know they cannot win, but they will hurt the conservative Republican and help the Dem win which makes me wonder about 3rd party candidates period.
Several months ago Rush hinted in one of his show ending, throw away lines, that he was meeting with like-minded people to form a "...new message" and to create a "...new vehicle" to get that message out.
Another kool-aid drinker. Running McLame combined with the Republican Congress spending our money like it was going out of style, completely forgetting their small government, fiscally conservative fundamental principals is what gave this country Obama.
But you go ahead and try saving the Republican party from itself. Yep, that strategy's been working alright.
Exactly, every time I have seen Bachmann on Beck, she is awesome. Always questioning those in authority. Do you know anything about her voting record and sponsored legislation?
I missed that broadcast. Start praying now for these folks. I am ashamed of the Palin hatred on this thread. I do not care what party she is in, I can relate to Sarah Palin. She is an everyday woman, loves her God, family and country. She is not afraid to make sacrifices, but knows when to pull back to re- assess. Rush, Sarah, Glenn... we need you and we are praying for your success and strength.
I like her in many ways....but I'll really believe that when she puts some distance between herself and Billy the Kid Kristol. Otherwise, all of the above, strike me as wishful thinking.
Ron Paul is better.....but who am I to speak? I liked Sanford before he showed his true colors. My chief worry about Palin is some of the people in her corner, chiefly Bill Kristol. I am also suspicious of the fact that Palin seems 90 percent image. She speaks in slogans and soundbites.....but what does what EXACTLY does she believen in in a specific sense except for more help for special needs children. I’d love to be proven wrong and agree that she has been unfairly smeared by the media, however.
Starting a new party would be a huge task requiring at least 2 if not more election cycles. Now while Sarah does think outside the box starting a new party is more like thinking outside the solar system. lol, That said, she can easily promote conservative Republicans and Democrats (she said she would support regardless off party label) and at the same time keep open the option of a third party.
Any conservative party will require the support of conservative Democrats and independents to be successful. There just are not enough conservative GOPer to do it alone. I am pretty sure Sarah knows this, so I would expect her to be a nonpartisan conservative voice in 2010. 2011 is where it get interesting. Should she by some miracle be an all powerful force in the 2010 elections and should the ruling elites both D's and R's (D's is a given) continued dissing her and her followers then the third party option comes in to play, it is of course a long shot and she'd have to get the conservative D's and R's on board too. But it could happen, not at all likely but stranger things have happened.
You make some really great points and it gives a lot to think about. It is not a safe bet at all that 2012 would be a winner but since things are in such political flux and such big changes are coming there is a chance. You are right about needing a couple election cycles, IMO, but the kinda exciting thing is that maybe something could move more quickly given the mess that zer0 is creating.
A lot of reasonable people, pubbies and dems, are going to be voting to put some checks and balances back into the system by 2012 if not by 2010. That seems to align with your ideas about Sarah being a non-partisan conservative.
This could be the most interesting thing politically in our lives! But it sure would take a Sarah Palin to even attempt it. Connect her up with the money required and the conservative (not GOP) organization professionals and we're good to go. Thanks for your post.
