WASHINGTON -- Aiming to keep the focus on climate change legislation, President Barack Obama put a plug in for administration efforts to make lamps and lighting equipment use less energy.
"I know light bulbs may not seem sexy, but this simple action holds enormous promise because 7 percent of all the energy consumed in America is used to light our homes and businesses," the president said, standing alongside Energy Secretary Steven Chu at the White House.

Day after day after day after day.
It’s like a mosquito buzzing in your ear.
Eventually, you have to kill the mosquito, even if it means boxing your own ear.

Well, if I don’t think I’m getting sufficient light from the ObamaBulbs, just as I now flush ten times during a lowflow toilet dump, I’ll simply install more fixtures.

FUBO.
I will NOT use light bulbs with mercury in them. Period. End of discussion.
The friggin’ Government mandating what LIGHT BULBS we’re supposed to use... The founding fathers are surely spinning so wildly in their graves it’s a miracle they haven’t shot out of the Earth and into orbit by now...

“OR will I have to worry that there will be a brownshirt coming to my door to see if I am using contraband light bulbs??”
I’m sure there is (or can be) a low-cost gizmo that can determine if an incandescent bulb is being used in a specific residence. Maybe some function of a “smart meter” or whatever.
You wouldn’t know a thing about it until the EPA/DoE SWAT team spilled in...

I think the compact fluorescent bulbs suck and when they die, long before their advertised life span is up, I throw them in the trash. Bravo! I hate the dang things too. One of them ruined one of my sockets in my office fixture. It really popped and I had to clear the dogs and myself out of the house and air it out for a half hour before I felt it safe to go back. That bulb along with all of the other hopey changey ones I am forced to endure will go into my regular trash. I will be damned if I will make a hazardous waste run to the dump with six dollar a gallon gas.

Don't you just love a smart President? One who says, "We need more electricity so instead of building more power plants that use coal and building nukes as fast as we can put them up, we are going to do away with coal fired plants, make sure another nuje never sees the light of day and we are all going to change light bulbs. This will see us through and increase our electrical output. At the same time we are going to build electric cars to put and even bigger strain on our grid!"/SAR.
Greenies and dimwits have brainwashed this country until we have a major bunch of brain dead people running around posing as American citizens. I used to think people were smart enough to see through all of the BS but I have changed my mind. The average person is dumber than dog sh**!

I use both Fluorescent and Incandescent Light Bulbs. Lights that I use frequently are Fluorescent to save money. Lights that I use infrequently are Incandescent to save money. I use Incandescent Bulbs in my Refrigerator and Oven.
Why on earth should I pay $10 for a light bulb in a storage area of my house that I very rarely use.
This is madness! The people who voted for Obama ought to be horse whipped. They are dumber than a box of rocks.

What kind of light bulbs a person uses is not a collective decision.
Damned right. I dig the FR handle, BTW.

Here's the real lightbulb problem ~ with the invention of the "white" LED bulbs all things became possible. At the same time the manufacturers really haven't set a standard for fixtures so what we have is a strange collage of pasteups and workarounds.
If the Obamistas and their running dog lackeys had the slightest bit of sense they'd have asked (begged even) the manufacturers of LED lighting to come up with a standard bracket or brackets that would be available to all producers for use.
That way we could rapidly move on to LEDs and get past the less effective and much more dangerous CFLs.
At the moment the White House proposal seems so old-fashioned I just don't know what to say about it except ~ GAD! How utterly primitive of them!

LOL... Oh there will be plenty of local people that could do it for you I'm sure.
Hacking takes on many forms. For example, once upon a time, hackers used to be called "gear heads", among many other different monikers. Anyone who can take anything, and use it for other than its original purpose, or expand beyond its original purpose, is a hacker.
They've been around for thousands of years. In a sense, this country was built by hackers.

maybe we need to start having light bulb parties in addition to tea parties (libs are all about the symbolism, dontcha know...)
