WASHINGTON -- Aiming to keep the focus on climate change legislation, President Barack Obama put a plug in for administration efforts to make lamps and lighting equipment use less energy.
"I know light bulbs may not seem sexy, but this simple action holds enormous promise because 7 percent of all the energy consumed in America is used to light our homes and businesses," the president said, standing alongside Energy Secretary Steven Chu at the White House.

maybe this is what Obama wants.
To: Never on my watch
Do that and he effects your actions. I simply continue to do as I do, ignoring him.
I wish everyone in government could do that - simply ignore him.
Too bad our press won't.
To: Crazieman
Fox news just noted that Bush had mandated these same changes over a year ago.

Obama sounds eerily like Mao. Mao “instructed” the Chinese population on everything from childrearing to sex to making clothes to every tiny facet of life.
Zero is Mao-lite and never shuts up!

Every time I go to the grocery store I pick up a pack of 60 watt incandescent light bulbs. I think the compact fluorescent bulbs suck and when they die, long before their advertised life span is up, I throw them in the trash.
I will not deal with the mess that has been inflicted on us.

{sarcasm on} It is a start.
Just think how wonderful it will be when all the lights are out. You will be able to see the Milky Way again. You will be able to go down to your neighbors house and rob him blind. It will be so much fun.{sarcasm off}
I drove through New Orleans, at night, after Katrina. BOY WAS IT DARK.
Even the car headlights didn’t seem to help much.
It is very weird when you are the ONLY car on the road and the only person around for miles.
To: TheMightyQuinn
I did better than that:
Every 1,208 miles, I have to stop the car and drain some gas out of the tank.

Use incandescent in the winter. (They give off a lot of heat)
Use fluorescent, LED, etc. in the summer.
Since you only use them part of the year, they should last longer as well.

Guess I better buy some more incandescents to add to my stockpile. OR will I have to worry that there will be a brownshirt coming to my door to see if I am using contraband light bulbs??

If there is a brownshirt brigade to inspect light bulbs, I trust you know what your patriotic duty is, correct?
