Now I must ask for the intercession of the prayer warriors.
My wife's coworker, Tom, a professor in the department for which she is the chair, died last night. He had a mild heart attack over the weekend, while on vacation in Colorado. He made it to a hospital, and they got things somewhat under control. They tried to put in some stints via catheter, but were unsuccessful. That's all I knew yesterday, except that they were going to do a triple bypass today.
He never made it that far. He had a massive coronary last evening, and they could not save him.
While he may have been the oldest professor in the department, he was not all that old, early 60s I believe. He had his undergraduate degree from Louisville and his Doctorate from Indiana. He was the only full professor in the small (5 profs and an admin assistant) department. By all accounts he was very good at what he did.
He leaves a wife and two grown children, as well as a grandson. I ask your prayers for them. They'll be missing a husband, a father and grandfather.
He was an invaluable part of the small private college community. They are hurting pretty badly right now too, and I ask your prayers for them as well.
The only small ray of sunshine in the gray clouds of his passing is that Tom spent the last week of his life in Colorado with his family around him, swimming and hiking, which were some of his favorite pastimes, outside of his work, and his part time community theater type acting. The man had a voice that was to be envied. But that's another group that will be missing him.

I’m sorry to hear of your wife’s loss of her colleague, and Tom’s family’s loved ones losing their husband, dad, granddad. He sounds like he was a terrific, vigorous person. A sad loss to the community, indeed.
Prayers sent for Tom and his family.

I’m sure I added the prayer warriors to my last post, but somehow I deleted the list before hitting post. Sorry.
Prayers for the repose of Tom’s soul and prayers for all who knew and loved him.
That is such sad news, El Gato. Tom’s family and friends are certainly in my prayers.
Prayers up for family and friends.
Joining in prayer for Tom and his loved ones.
If I remember correctly, you and I live in the same general area (unless you’ve moved in the last few years). Was this gentleman at UMHB, by any chance?
Prayers and God’s comfort to Tom’s family, friends, and colleagues (your poor wife included).
