Live thread for commentary on the ABC News Primetime ObamaCare Infomercial tonight at 9:00 PM CT/10:00 PM ET.
John Boehner recommends this handy guide to the healthcare informercial from The Freedom Project.
A Guide to the President's Health Care Infomercial
Acknowledging that his thinking on the issue has "evolved," President Barack Obama says he could support a law mandating that individuals purchase health care coverage, with fines for those who do not, but he stressed that there must be some kind of waiver for those who are simply unable to afford it. (snip)
During the election campaign, Obama said he was opposed to a federal law mandating the purchase of health care coverage.

Toal BS answer, had nothing to do with the question
or something...so if the ‘outcome’ is bad, no reimbursement?????????????
Total horsepucky. Nonsensical answers.
like his own granny, huh?
In my experience with the military health care system (and I will admit, it could be because there are not enough doctors available as quite a few of them are deployed or have to deploy) is that it is the same way. I had to see a PA several times before I finally would get to see a physician. Not that there’s anything wrong with PAs, but the military relies on them quite a bit. I was having severe stomach issues and I finally saw a PA who was new and didn’t hesitate to call gastro and get them to move my appointment up. I did up with the chief of the gastro clinic, a LTC.
That said, since military healthcare is basically socialized, I can foresee this public plan going much the same way as you described, with nurse practicioners and PAs being the gatekeepers.
“Americans are going to lose their healthcare if we do nothing”
I am sick of this phrase, the phrase intended to convince all that, “oh my god, save us oh great messiah” and give us healthcare..........
Makes me sick to my stomach just reading the questions and answers. Wouldn’t watch him in action if paid to do so.
is that how he got rid of ole granny????
I cannot stand this thing called ZerO
I agree 100%. They are different entities. The ER docs will lose their job if populace/patients drastically decrease. These docs will be forced to find/train for another job. They are not GP’s they are ER docs. GP’s, family docs and Ped docs will be overwhelmed and the level of quality care will decrease.
If these ER docs are forced to leave their specialty, ER medicine will lose valuable trained personnel and these ER docs may not be thrilled about doing “standard care”. A big loss.
Thanks, even though it was painful to read, must have been worse for you to watch it!
I don’t watch the alphabet channels. Started out by boycotting all CBS programming over their failure to immediately fire Dan Rather during W’s election. Stopped watching all NBC programming over MSNBC over the top reporting during the last election.
Almost never watched ABC, anyway, and when Peter Jennings took over as news anchor-that was pretty much it for them, just a few random programs here and there. Now, it’s totally banned due to their refusal to run ads from opponents of the O’s health plan.
So what does that leave? Fox News special report,Cavuto, Beck, Lou Dobbs, (used to watch Glen Beck on CNN too), and the last season of 24. Other than that it’s netflix and the internet, and more time to do housework now. LOL.
Looks like I missed out on the whorecast. They had the hamburger special over at Burger King so I figured I’d get a discounted whopper rather than listen to one that is going to cost trillions.
The self-employed can already pool together through a number of organizations created just to provide them with cheaper, pooled plans.
When in hell did medical insurance become the responsibility of employers to begin with? Originally, it was offered as a benefit, and enticement, because group insurance is cheaper than individual plans. Ostammer speaks as though there is a law requiring it NOW.
Lies, lies and damn lies. We DO indeed have better outcomes than other countries in major illnesses such as heart, cancer, transplants, brain injuries, serious eye diseases and others.
This answer given here is the heart of the issue. It’s the “money line” in the whole thing.
“A. We want to prevent extensive/expensive treatments simply to prolong lives without really making the patient any better. In some cases, well ask the patient to take the pain pills instead of getting the surgery. In those ways well be able to save money for those cases (like the 105 year old mom who received a pacemaker at 95) who will benefit from the extensive treatments.”
I didn’t watch either. I’ve had enough of seeing Hussein wander around looking for attention.
