John Boehner recommends this handy guide to the healthcare informercial from The Freedom Project.
A Guide to the President's Health Care Infomercial
Acknowledging that his thinking on the issue has "evolved," President Barack Obama says he could support a law mandating that individuals purchase health care coverage, with fines for those who do not, but he stressed that there must be some kind of waiver for those who are simply unable to afford it. (snip)
During the election campaign, Obama said he was opposed to a federal law mandating the purchase of health care coverage.

Yes, you are right.
No way am I watching the propaganda political state run media machine!!!
We need to come up with a system that is uniquely American.
In other words, we need to come up with a system that no one can critique in advance. If we adopt the French system, for example, then my critics can point to the flaws of the French system, and can dramatize examples of where people have suffered because they were not properly treated. We need a plan that has no precedents, where we can simply call critics of the plan “naysayers,” and compare them to Holocaust deniers or defenders of chattel slavery.
Oh yeah, the government is so good at reducing paperwork!
And we don’t really need all those specialists anyway...
He has referrdd to the fee for service plan as somethig that is bad on several occasions. And makes references to how much money specialists make.
Beginning to open door to salaried physicians and few money grubbing specialists.
My cancer doc who had four years of surgery and then a three year cancer fellowship is not gonna be happy.
I was in an early HMO once that worked that way: you didn’t get assigned even a PCP, but a nurse practioner who was the gatekeeper before you ever got to see an actual doctor.
I thought the whole point of this commercial was to sell his plan. It sounds like all he is talking about is the need to come up with a plan. WTH?
There is never any logic associated with this man.
Fewer patients in the ER = more patients in the doc’s office. It’s the same number of patients.
Besides- apparently he’s unaware of how ER’s and private practices aren’t even related.
However- all is not lost. Yesterday I figured out how he thinks and it makes everything he says now fall into place.
Obama: I’m an ex-smoker.
Obama: (2 minutes later) When I smoke, I don’t do it near my family.
So, we see he can hold, believe and promote two opposing ideas at the same time and then look askance when people question him.
* practicianer *
The study on Mayo Clinic cost was only about expenses related to end-stage care for a specific terminal illness, versus the cost for the same situation at just two other facilities. But I am sure he didn’t bother to point that out.
argh! I’ll get it right: practitioner.
Q. How are you going to ensure that medical decisions are between the physician and the patient instead of some bureaucrat who will make decisions on cost and not on what the patient really needs?
A. If you’re happy with your plan/doctor, we don’t want you to have to change. If we don’t do something in healthcare reform, you’re going to lose what you already have. Currently uninsured will be able to sign up for a plan that works for them. Doctors will be working for themselves, not government. They’ll still be reimbursed, but now they’ll be reimbursed for quality of outcome rather than just for the number of procedures that are done.
I’m soooooooo confused! I’ve been trying to watch this LIVE from the Whitehouse on the internet because I don’t have a freeded up t.v. at the moment and all I come up with is, is a contribed interview that took place ealier...WTheck!!
he’s not answering the lady’s question with the 105 year old mother regarding if there will be an age cut off point with gov’t health care...she was given a pacemaker at 100 years old
What a load!
Is it just me, or is this just a tad bit insulting to physicians?
Obama is treading in mud up to his armpits by not answering the woman’s question about her 100 year old mother getting a pacemaker. She got it, and she’s now 105 years old, with a great spirit for life.
That’ll be such a great incentive to keep our current, most highly trained doctors practicing!
very good post,,this is the kind of thing we need to counter with and what fox needs.
You got the impression we could all go to Mayo for our govt care!!!
Excellent synopsis...It’s like zero always has the devil on one shoulder and the angel on the other...with a finger in the air...what shall I do?! what shall I say?!
