The Obama administration has turned back pleas for emergency aid from one of the biggest remaining threats to the economy -- the state of California.

>> Id be a great dictator.
Me too! Benevolent.
For the most part.
By whom.....that’s who. :-)
Everyone saw this coming 25 years ago. California constantly raising fees and taxes despite their rising tax base and complicit regard to illegals.
Note to counties across America with a rising tax base, STOP INCREASING BS SERVICES!. For those counties losing the tax base, time to get the hell out.
Drilling? That won't help. It'll take years before they actually started pumping oil, and even then California would only get a royalty on each barrel. When it leaves the ground, not before.
I honestly believe we'd be better off if replaced the legislature by randomly pulling names out of the phone book directory.
Dear Arnold,
Look out to the coastline and think “what resource could help solve your financial problems”....3 words DRILL, BABY, DRILL!
Signed,
A fiscally responsible Conservative!
The People's Republic Of California. They vote here just like everywhere else and get the government they deserve. Bankruptcy only reflects on our legislators and so-called 'leaders' who have no vision other than pandering to the masses to win re-election. This has been the 'ticket' for quite some time.
It takes a lot of effort to run a state with resources, climate, location, and people such as we have, into the ditch. The stench of liberalism (socialism) and what it has done to this beautiful state rivals what goes on in places like North Korea. Rather than demand allegience to their stupidity using the power of the state, they simply bribe it from the ignant, greedy, masses who really don't give a sh*t- "I got mine, screw you."
Our two senatoresses - Kim Jung Fienstein and Barbara Il Bozo don't represent the state. They never have. They represent constituents in their party. It's the same crap all the way to the local level.
Politicians stink, are stupider than a snow cone, and have killed the golden goose. Fine with me, I don't need their services, can't stand the over-regulation, and look forward to the 'freedom' that'll surely fill the vacuum. Call it the Freedom Dividend. Get their feet off the necks of the private sector and out of their wallets and watch this place turn around.
I suspect that selling the rights to drill would fetch a goodly sum of cash in short order. And besides, privatizing the K-12 system takes $30B off of the budget immediately. Voila. Budget more than balanced, and now taxes can get cut...
Something like 40 states are running deficits. I don’t think we can get out of this mess by issuing each other rubber checks....
Besides, there's no such thing as proper queens English in this country. It's called American English. Heck, there ain't no such thing as English in this country!
There's ebonics, (and that even has regional variants) There's Cajun english, New Yawk english, (a strange form of english which doesn't use the letter "R" except in extreme emergencies) Massachusetts/Bostonian english, New Orleans english, Tennessian, Ozarkian, Texan, Kansian Ohioian, and queer english, where every word possible must have a lisp involved and every sentence has an upward inflection.
I feel that way about the Congress... heck, after Obama’s term we might feel that way about the USSC.
Though, personally, I think the 25Jun05 Kelo v. New London case shows that the USSC is NOT concerned with the Constitution or Justice... this opinion is further reinforced by both the refusal to hear/try Obama eligibility claimants as well as the refusal to take the GM/Chrysler-bondholder’s claims. (Seizure of property w/o due process of law, theft under color of law, violation of the “equal protection” amendment.)
And then of course, there’s General American English, which is what all us military brats from the 50’s speak.
The language of champions.
Works for me. Let's go do the bankruptcy dance. Maybe those friggers in Sacramento will get a hint.
Good luck with that. We are now a socialist state. That means free-enterprise is the enemy. Stupid is as stupid does, while we watch so many companies leave CA. Again, the socialists are in charge and bleed their little hearts for all who don't have as much as others.
There are ALWAYS solutions. Problem being, the progressives in Sacramento are so determined in their Utopian ideals, they can't see such solutions that would actually make things better for all, including the lower class they claim to care about.
Progressives are myopic. They have a simplistic view of the world because they believe that a Utopian redistribution of wealth will bring up the standard of living for the "less fortunate", while not understanding it lowers the incentive of the producers.
They simply can't wrap their bleeding-heart brains around the idea that the productive part of society builds opportunity for everyone, including their "less fortunate".
So they take and redistribute. Such is the liberal/progressive mindset. I've come to the conclusion that the so-called "intellectuals" in the progressive movement are not very intellectual at all. They talk and write and opine their philosophies (to seem intellectually superior) and forget commonsense they would have selling lemonade on a street corner as a child.
I've owned (3) companies and know more about simple economics that work than any liberal Harvard graduate.
Bull crap. B.O. has a price...it is just a question as to whether Kalifornia will meet that price.
I agree. Although sometimes I'm not sure if its simple-mindedness, or intent. There have been enough clear examples about how communism fails every time. It leaves nations in ruins, and it destroys lives. I can't believe it is all arrogance that drives these 'leaders' to say -- 'Well, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, got it all wrong -- but we'll do it right this time...' I think they like the idea of a big government that runs everyone's lives -- as long as they are at they are at the wheel.
I just hope we as a people reach the point where we say enough is enough. Government is not intended to be our Nanny. Nor can it be -- it has some benefits as long as its reigned in and kept limited in size -- otherwise, by its nature its a heartless beast and it ends up crushing the soul of a nation if its allowed to grow to god-like proportions.
It's a combination. Their "simple-mindedness AND intent" makes them see the world in a simplistic myopic view. They actually believe if they get enough big-gov involved to spread the wealth, they can fulfill the dream of Utopia - where all are rich and happy and content and no one suffers from the ills of mankind.
Such ideology has NEVER worked, nor will it. It quashes the natural incentive of individuals to excel.
SOCIALIST UTOPIANS ARE OUR ENEMIES!
