"There are solutions. Privatize K-12. Start drilling. Sell off State 'properties' (the government shouldn't hoard land away from the public). Stop providing 'free' services to illegal intruders. Cut taxes. "

There are ALWAYS solutions. Problem being, the progressives in Sacramento are so determined in their Utopian ideals, they can't see such solutions that would actually make things better for all, including the lower class they claim to care about.

Progressives are myopic. They have a simplistic view of the world because they believe that a Utopian redistribution of wealth will bring up the standard of living for the "less fortunate", while not understanding it lowers the incentive of the producers.

They simply can't wrap their bleeding-heart brains around the idea that the productive part of society builds opportunity for everyone, including their "less fortunate".

So they take and redistribute. Such is the liberal/progressive mindset. I've come to the conclusion that the so-called "intellectuals" in the progressive movement are not very intellectual at all. They talk and write and opine their philosophies (to seem intellectually superior) and forget commonsense they would have selling lemonade on a street corner as a child.

I've owned (3) companies and know more about simple economics that work than any liberal Harvard graduate.

I agree. Although sometimes I'm not sure if its simple-mindedness, or intent. There have been enough clear examples about how communism fails every time. It leaves nations in ruins, and it destroys lives. I can't believe it is all arrogance that drives these 'leaders' to say -- 'Well, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, got it all wrong -- but we'll do it right this time...' I think they like the idea of a big government that runs everyone's lives -- as long as they are at they are at the wheel.
I just hope we as a people reach the point where we say enough is enough. Government is not intended to be our Nanny. Nor can it be -- it has some benefits as long as its reigned in and kept limited in size -- otherwise, by its nature its a heartless beast and it ends up crushing the soul of a nation if its allowed to grow to god-like proportions.
