A resolution urging that the state Capitol Commission erect a statue on the Capitol grounds in honor of former Democratic Vice President Al Gore for winning the Nobel Peace Prize failed on the Senate floor today.
The resolution, which also urged a statue be erected for Nobel Peace Prize winner Cordell Hull, failed on a 15-14 vote with most Republicans voting no. It needed 17 votes to pass.
Earlier, the sponsor, Sen. Andy Berke, D-Chattanooga, said the measure had broad bipartisan support in the House.
In the Senate, Sen. Ken Yager, R-Harriman, removed an amendment he had previously attached to the resolution that would have included the name of libertarian economist James Buchanan Jr., who won a Nobel Prize for economics.
Sen. Yager also noted that Mr. Gore had not actually been born in Tennessee.
Mr. Gore, Democrats unsuccessful 2000 presidential nominee, won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for informing the world of the dangers posed by climate change. That was based in large part for his documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, for which he won an Oscar.
The late Mr. Hull, a one-time U.S. secretary of state, won the Nobel Peace Prize for helping found the United Nations.

I stopped swaying today ,, finally.
We had pretty smooth seas and great weather at all the stops!
I loaded up on jams/jellies and syrup,, wifey bought lots of stuff and we hardly gained any weight to boot. Pretty good trick considering there was no shortage of food. Most of it was pretty good. No major outbreaks of anything but we did have a gent medivaced by a Coast Guard helicopter.. quite a scene. never saw one of them up close before.

Cordell Hull, stopped being Secretary of State when he was caught doing the evil deed with a Black Porter in a sleeper train. This may be incorrect because my Grandfather told me this and he hated FDR, then again I have seen it Published, but I can't remember where.

What more does Al want? There's already a park dedicated to him.

Maybe they could erect an outhouse in his honor and call it “Gore’s Hole.”

Wait a sec...I thought Al Gore WAS a statue.

Before he became Veep, that gasbag came to a nearby Borders bookstore to flak his first enviromental pack of lies,
Earth in the Balance. Since I was already in the store, I went up and mingled, eventually speaking directly to him. Couldn't help seeing that Big Al's wedding ring was missing, with a shiny, dented white mark where it had been. I heard from friends later that night that he was separated, and was partying with the Sierra Club members while he was in town (not DC).
Whoops! A few weeks later he was nominated for VP, and all of a sudden there was that pesky ol' wedding ring again, back on his left hand, and he was planting big juicy public displays of affection on poor long-sufferin' Tipper.

I'd rather they model it on the picture of Gore in Viet Nam leaning over and pointing his military rifle at his own head.

I searched that, I may or may not stand corrected, Welles was a Poofter. It was strange though that FDR replaced Hull in 1944, after Welles got the boot.
The queer underground in the UK had webs and ladders through out the Government at the time, so maybe I could be right, after all the first pres of the UN was a spy.

I forgot about the "enhanced" photo of Al Gore.
That was just soooo pathetic.

Actually I’m kind of disappointed as I was planning to pull a prank and replace the statute and see how long before anyone noticed.

They could just erect a pedestal and have Al Gore himself stand on it.
