Late on Friday The Washington Times' Christian Bourge obtained a copy of Presidential Determination 2009-19, latest in a series of pro forma memos to the Secretary of State entitled "Suspension of Limitations Under the Jerusalem Embassy Act."

The U.S. has long had a policy of keeping its embassies out of areas whose jurisdiction was under dispute . . . which was why it was located in Tel Aviv in the first place.

My interpretation is that the 1995 act of Congress has no standing as law because it was never signed by the president. Nor was it vetoed by the president and overriden by Congress.

I can see that interpretation. Prior presidents shouldn't have let this drag out this long -- one way or the other.

But the timing of this, just following the "Great Obama Islamic Suck-up Tour of 2009", is not good.

I would think that it might signal to Israel that they have IN DEED lost the US as an allie, goading them to make important strategic decisions in the region without the involvement and/or consultation of the US...

Secure Arkansas organized a rally in rememberance of the first terrorist attack since 9/11. Pvt. William Long was killed and Pvt. Quinton I. Ezeagwula was wounded by Carlos Leon (aka Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad). Channel 11 was the only TV crew out there with a camera, and the AR Dem Gazette sent a reporter and a photographer. The event had several speakers who did a wonderful job. Video footage of them will be uploaded soon. However, the most shocking part of the event was when a muslim fanatic crashed the event. The fanatic drove by and yelled at us, then parked in the parking lot and stood out with a homemade sign yelling anti-American and later anti-Semetic comments. Had this been a ceremony for Tiller, this would have been the top story for both local and national media. Since it isn't a top story, it's up to you to send this to as many people as possible. To be intellectually honest, I don't see the difference here. Bush didn't have the guts to actually do it in 8 years, so what's the point of having a policy goal in their that you don't intend to enact? Bush wasn't going to do it, and neither is Obama, so why bother with the phony lipservice?
